Alex Tuch’s ‘dream come true’ brightened Sabres’ outlook, sparked change

‘“Obviously there were going to be mixed opinions from the fan base and from the city, and I just saw nothing but overwhelming support,” Tuch, 25, told the media during his end-of-season press conference Saturday. “I have to say thank you for that. It made my job a lot easier and my family’s life a lot more enjoyable in that regard.”‘

Mike Harrington: Sabres carry a good vibe into the offseason but have to keep pushing forward

‘This is the first season through this entire playoff drought that players, coaches, fans and even media are bummed we’ve hit a finish line and aren’t saying good riddance to it all.’

Craig Anderson views Sabres as ‘ideal situation’ if he decides to continue playing

‘On the ice, he delivered 17 wins – including victories over Toronto, Vegas, Minnesota, Nashville and Carolina – across 31 games in Buffalo’s net. In the dressing room, and between stoppages in play, he provided words of wisdom. He exemplified the professionalism, dedication and perseverance that coaches and management want in the organization.’

Upstart Sabres believe they’ve started something special: ‘A different feeling’

‘“Looking back, to what we started the first day of training camp, I think everybody can be proud of where we are,” Okposo said. “And I think if you look at expectations from the outside, I think we probably exceeded what they were. And internally, we really didn’t set any expectations as far as like wins or losses. It was just, ‘We’re going to win the day.’”’

For Sabres’ Malcolm Subban, singing national anthem special experience

‘“It was awesome,” a smiling Subban said Saturday as the Sabres cleaned out their lockers and held end-of-season meetings. “I was, like, so nervous before. Like, I couldn’t even eat lunch. Oh yeah, I was so nervous.”’

Sabres counting on late-season surge to carry into next year

‘“Looking back to what we started the first day of training camp, I think everybody can be proud of where we are,” Kyle Okposo said. “If you look at expectations from the outside, I think we probably exceeded what they were. Internally, we really didn’t set any expectations as far as wins and loses. it was just, `We’re going to win the day.’”’

Sabres head into offseason with a lot of work ahead

‘From March 1 on, Buffalo had a points percentage of .625, which was 13th overall. It was better than some good teams like the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Vegas Golden Knights and the Pittsburgh Penguins.’

Sabres veterans believe growth can carry into next season

‘”It’s definitely a different feeling this year,” Girgensons said. “Usually in the morning you’re trying to gather thoughts of all the complaints, the issues that are going on. This morning my wife asked me, ‘What are you going to say?’ I said, ‘I don’t have too many complaints.”
