‘“It was really, as I explained to (Taylor), philosophically in Rochester where we are looking to go and how we want to make sure (we’re having success) from a developmental perspective,” Adams said. “I want Ralph (Krueger) to be very involved in the coaching search and how that works together with Rochester and Buffalo. Ultimately, it’s about developing prospects to become Buffalo Sabre players.”’

‘A lot of times, the relationships stick too. We have kids come watch games and visit the locker room and get to know them as years pass. Those experiences are one of my favorite aspects of being a member of the Sabres and something I will always be thankful for.’

‘“We wanted to be different, but most importantly, all these leagues were already doing it,” said Schranz, who worked in hockey operations for the Sabres from 2002-14. “The NHL was lagging so far behind and Darcy said we need to do something nobody else is doing so we’re ahead of the curve.”’
Sabres nominate Jack Eichel for NHL’s King Clancy Memorial Trophy
‘Off the ice, Eichel collaborated with Bauer, a hockey equipment company, in April to donate 5,000 protective face shields to front-line health care workers treating coronavirus patients in western New York hospitals. He also donated bouquets of flowers to nurses at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center in May. Eichel donates a KeyBank Center suite at every Sabres home game to local charitable organizations, and over the past four years he has raised more than $400,000 for Roswell Park through his involvement in the Bald for Bucks campaign.’

Former Sabres winger Eddie Shack, 4-time Cup champion with Maple Leafs, dies at 83
‘Shack’s career included parts of the first two seasons of the Buffalo Sabres’ existence. In 111 games for Buffalo after he was acquired by coach/general manager Punch Imlach from the Los Angeles Kings for forward Dick Duff and defenseman Mike McMahon Jr., he had 26 goals and 31 assists. His 25 goals in 1970-71 were second on the team to rookie center Gilbert Perreault’s 38.’
Former Sabres showman Eddie Shack loved Buffalo, and Buffalo loved him back
‘“Buffalo was just right for Eddie,” Reid said. “The city’s not overly big. The Aud was a kind of intimate arena. The acoustics in there were fantastic. I’m sure you could hear Eddie from one end of the rink to the other. He was always funny. The people in Buffalo, they loved Eddie. And he loved them back.”’
