Denis Potvin on Rasmus Dahlin: ‘Make sure the young man plays defense first’

‘”I had every scoring record in junior hockey and I got to my first training camp and I don’t think I was barely allowed to go above center ice for the first little while. Al Arbour simply saw it that, ‘Let’s make sure being a sound defensive defenseman comes first and if you’re in a good position defensively, you’ll be in a good position offensively.’ He used to drill that into me. Coaching will be important. You can’t just let the kid ride because he’ll make mistakes that I think will be difficult to recover from.”‘

Sabres announce dates for development camp

‘The camp, which will run June 27-30 at HarborCenter, will feature current Sabres prospects, including those selected in the 2018 draft, in on-ice and off-ice activities. The camp is earlier this year than in past years when it was typically held in early July.’

Anything could happen as GM Jason Botterill tries to overhaul Sabres

‘Yes, Reinhart, who needs a new contract, looks like a franchise cornerstone. But what if a team offers the Sabres a package that could fill, say, two holes? What if the Sabres think Reinhart, an average skater, might struggle as the NHL becomes faster and faster?’

Bergenheim: You don’t see players like Dahlin come along very often

‘“Exceptional, that is the first word that comes to my mind,” Bergenheim said with Howard Simon on Monday. “He’s definitely a player that you don’t see come around too often in this world.”’

Rönnberg: Dahlin is a ‘true winner’

‘”The most special thing for him is his personality, He has the edge that the best players have, he’s a true winner. He want’s to win everything that he participates in. He’s so stubborn. He’s the most stubborn player I’ve ever coached. Every practice, every situation, he’s there stepping for his team and he wants to win the game for us. He has the same character as some of the best Swedish players, and I’ve coached players like Peter Forsberg and those guys. That’s the strongest things of his character.”‘

The Sabres have moved development camp to June 27 through the 30th

‘On Friday the 29th, it’s 9:15 until 10:15 and 10:45 through 11:45 and then on Saturday June 30, it’s the French Connection 3-on-3 tournament starting at 10:45. This is a ticketed event available free to season ticket holders only. The rest of the camp is open and free to the public.’

Sabres announce schedule for 2018 Development Camp

‘Sabres prospects and draft picks will be going through on and off-ice workouts followed by an intra-squad 3-on-3 tournament. All on-ice sessions are free and open to the public while the 3-on-3 tournament is open to season ticket holders.’

Sabres announce 2018 development camp schedule

‘On-ice sessions from June 27 to 29 are free and open to the public. Admittance will be on a first-come, first-served basis and not guaranteed.’
