Ryan Miller left his indelible mark on Buffalo

Source: Vancouver Province

‘It’s making Canucks general manager Jim Benning, who scouted and encouraged the Sabres to grab Miller in the fifth round of the 1999 draft, look like a genius. When Miller received a three-year, $18 million US free-agent contract on July 1, 2014, it meant he would be on the Vancouver books until aged 37. There was a cheaper and younger option in Jonas Hiller, who signed a two-year, $9 million deal with the Calgary Flames on the same day, but look at where he is today — a 3.61 GAA and .861 saves percentage. And look at all those television cameras chronicling Miller’s return to Buffalo.’
