‘“For us to be able to add someone that is going to contribute offensively, where he’s situated now probably more on the assist side than the goal side, but he’s certainly capable of scoring goals, it’s important and it’s an important message to send to the players as well,” said General Manager Darcy Regier. “He’s creative and can add to the top nine forwards and give us more of a scoring threat.”’

‘Ruff spoke enthusiastically about Boyes’ addition after practice Monday, a day after the Sabres acquired the two-time 30-goal-scorer in a trade with St. Louis. Ruff initially expects to play Boyes on a line centered by Tim Connolly.’
‘Facing seven straight games on the road, the addition of a useful player or two would be a timely boost on the ice and in the locker room.’
‘The Sabres acquired Boyes from St. Louis late Sunday night, sending the Blues a second-round pick in the June draft. The 28-year-old right winger/center is in sixth season and has one year left on his contract, which has a cap hit of $4 million and a salary of $4.5 million this year and $4 million next year.’
‘The 28-year-old Boyes had 12 goals and 41 points, tied for third-best on the Blues, but has lost his scoring touch in recent seasons. He scored a career-best 43 goals in 2007-08 and followed up with 33 the next season, but has totaled 26 goals in 146 games the last two seasons.’
‘Originally a first-round pick (24th overall) by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2000 draft, Boyes has posted at least 40 points in each of his six full NHL seasons.’
‘Buffalo Sabres GM Darcy Regier announced today the Sabres have acquired RW Brad Boyes from the St. Louis Blues in exchange for Buffalo’s second-round pick in the 2011 Entry Draft.’
”Boyes, originally a Toronto Maple Leafs prospect, has seen his goal production decline from a high of 43 goals in 2007-08. He had 12 goals in 61 games for the Blues this season."
”Blues fans’ writing about Boyes seem to echo those of Sabres fans on Jason Pominville. “Overpaid” and “erratic shooting” are thrown around. Fact is, I’d take most teams’ Pominville in a second. He’s a defensively-responsible player who holds his own in every area of the rink.”
