Sabres steal the spotlight

‘Miller was pulled after falling into a 3-0 hole in Tuesday’s 4-3 win over Pittsburgh, but he made 32 saves in this one and kept Buffalo afloat until the offense awoke. He was also a key participant in a lengthy players-only meeting afterward that discussed the club’s troubles from the opening faceoff.’

It’s official: Miller named to Olympic team

‘"He’s played very well," Sabres coach Lindy Ruff said today. "Through the first 40 games, there’s maybe been a couple blips in the radar but other than that he’s been really solid. We’ve had games where we’ve played poorly and he’s helped us win and games we’ve been solid in front of him. He’s been there to make the big saves at tough times in the game."’

Hecht still guessing on Olympic status

‘"[Krupp] said they’re working off 35 guys combined and that it doesn’t matter where anybody stands right now," Hecht said before Friday’s game against the Atlanta Thrashers in HSBC Arena. "They’re going to make the final decision on Jan. 20. He said there’s a pretty good chance I’m going. He didn’t say I’m going for sure but there’s a pretty good chance."’

Roy&#8217s OT goal caps Sabres&#8217 4-3 win over Thrashers

‘“That was the most wide-open net I’ve gotten in my career,” Roy said. “I got a lucky bounce off the glass, it was a good bounce for us.”’

Buffalo 4, Atlanta 3 (OT)

‘In the extra session, Tyler Myers made his way to the Atlanta blue line before dumping the puck off the boards and into the zone. Thrashers goaltender Johan Hedberg started to make his way behind the net as the disc took a wild bounce off the boards. The puck settled in front of an empty net, allowing Roy to jam home the easy game-winner.’

Roy completes comeback; Sabres win 4-3 in OT

‘The Sabres then came out flying in the third as Tim Connolly scored at the 2:19 mark on a nice centering pass from Hecht. Less than two minutes later Hecht scored his second of the night when slid a puck past Johan Hedberg to tie the game.’
