Sabres hold on to beat Canucks

The Buffalo Sabres now have a two game winning streak going! That may be spare change to most NHL teams, but for the Sabres it's a gold mine. By beating the Vancouver Canucks 3-2 Tuesday night, the Sabres for the first time in over a month won consecutive games.

Varada, Sabres on streaks

'Heading into last weekend, Vaclav Varada had as many suspensions as he had goals.'

Sabres know stretch drive is here already

'Great motivator, fear is.'

Shame on them

'"We were pretty piss-poor in front of [Skudra]," Baron said. "We had no coverage all night."'

Burke gives Vasiljevs Olympic OK, not Skudra

'Buffalo has told Miroslav Satan he's free to join Slovakia for qualifying, but he won't miss any Sabres games. He'll play three games in three nights, hopping between Ottawa, Salt Lake City (to face Germany) and Buffalo from Feb. 8-10.'

Auld news is good news

'3 – Good scoring chances Miroslav Satan had that Peter Skudra foiled. Satan also hit the post with an open net and Skudra facing the wrong way.'

Defence deserts Canucks

'Vancouver was miserable in its own end and without some solid goaltending by Skudra, the game would not have been as close as it turned out to be.'

Sabres 3, Canucks 2

'Tim Connolly scored the eventual game-winner and goalie Martin Biron stopped 26 shots to record his first home victory since Nov. 23 and second win in his last 11 appearances.'

Buffalo 3, Vancouver 2

'Buffalo has posted back-to-back victories for the first time since a season-high three-game winning streak from November 28-December 4.'
