This Day in Sabres History: June 20

Recommended Posts

June 20, 1999

Brett Hull scored at 14:51 of the third overtime, putting a rebound past a sprawled Dominik Hasek on the edge of the crease as the Dallas Stars win the Stanley Cup outlasting the Buffalo Sabres 2-1 at then Marine Midland Arena. The overtime winner gave the Stars a 4 games to 2 series victory. It was the second-longest overtime game in Stanley Cup finals history and the longest to decide a winner -- and a disputed winner at that. The Sabres protested that Hull's left skate was in the crease as he scored to make Dallas the first Sun Belt city to lift the Stanley Cup.

June 20, 2006

Sabres fans everywhere throw up in their mouth at the reality of the Hurricanes winning the Stanley Cup.

Didn't he score on the 20th actually?

Wasn't it past midnight?

Wasn't it past midnight?

He did not score on the 20th.

He was awarded a goal on the 20th.

BIG difference.
