May 29, 1999

The Sabres blow out the Leafs 5-2 at Marine Midland Arena, ripping open the game in a second period in which they score three goals in quick succession to take a 4-0 lead. Rob Ray and Geoff Sanderson score twice in 22 seconds, Ray standing with his back to the goalie and neatly deflecting the puck on his backhand through his skates, the defenseman's skates and the goaltender's skates. "Anything can happen," sage Jason Woolley said after the game. "There is a God." The Sabres have a three games to one lead in the Eastern Conference finals with Game 5 in Toronto.
