CTJoe Posted Sunday at 03:18 AM Report Posted Sunday at 03:18 AM Small sample size but I think he’s been by far our best and most dangerous forward in the first 2 games. He’s a post and two wide open net narrrow Misses away from 5 goals. With other chances (11 shot attempts tonight) he could easily have a hattrick in each game. He’s retained his quickness and speed too the longer we wait the more expensive he gets. Love Norris and Doan but they’ve been virtually invisible so far. I could see Quinn getting a contract like their’s? 7x7? 1 Quote
shrader Posted Sunday at 03:43 AM Report Posted Sunday at 03:43 AM It’s been stated here several times that they tried to sign Quinn before the 8 year limit went away but he passed. He’s not signing anything during the season at this point. He’s bet on himself and he’s going to see it through to the end of the season. 3 Quote
#freejame Posted Sunday at 11:34 AM Report Posted Sunday at 11:34 AM Quinn is playing like he’s going to be our highest paid forward by not a small amount. 2 Quote
CTJoe Posted Sunday at 12:54 PM Author Report Posted Sunday at 12:54 PM Looks like a smart move by him so far. At least he’s an RFA at the end of the season though still a possible offer sheet candidate Quote
LGR4GM Posted Sunday at 01:19 PM Report Posted Sunday at 01:19 PM Remember too that Jack is from Ontario so outside of the Leafs we're his hometown team. His mom and step dad come to games (not sure how often but a few a year) Quote
Carmel Corn Posted Sunday at 01:41 PM Report Posted Sunday at 01:41 PM I like what I see (including last season’s playoffs), but…..I still need to see a larger sample size though. That said, he’s more dangerous than Tage IMHO. Quote

nfreeman Posted Sunday at 02:08 PM Report Posted Sunday at 02:08 PM Quinn still needs to get stronger on the puck but he looks like a confident, skilled, dangerous goal scorer. If he stays healthy I think he’ll get 30 this year. 1 Quote

He's looking against NHLers like he did against AHLers in that magical Rochester season that had me so hyped for him. I think his Corsi is something ridiculous like 72% so far and his new linemates really seem to complement his game. He could have signed for $7M this summer. He’s set his sights on Tuch money. Hope he earns it. 1 Quote
Flashsabre Posted Sunday at 04:16 PM Report Posted Sunday at 04:16 PM Keep that line together. Benny and Östlund’s playmaking and puck retrieval are the perfect compliment for Quinn’s sniping. 1 1 Quote

My thoughts on him getting paid is this is a contract year. So is he coming of age or is he playing for the contract? I don't trust him yet and would worry about the consistency. At the moment I'd still sell high and make some roster changes. He plays well enough in the first 10 games maybe he does get us Helleybuck. 1 1 Quote
SABRES 0311 Posted Sunday at 07:28 PM Report Posted Sunday at 07:28 PM I think he’s gotta be the next target for a long term contract. Not sure who is a comparable. Quote
FrenchConnection44 Posted Sunday at 09:38 PM Report Posted Sunday at 09:38 PM Hopefully we can sign him. He's going to cost a lot of money. Will be interesting if he gets an offer sheet and whether we would match it. Quote
French Collection Posted Monday at 10:05 AM Report Posted Monday at 10:05 AM He’s playing well and seems to have found another gear, attacking the net instead of perimeter play. Money seems to be the key motivation to career years for most NHLers. Quote
Carmel Corn Posted Monday at 11:33 AM Report Posted Monday at 11:33 AM (edited) So let’s entertain the scenario that Quinn stays healthy and scores 30 to 35 goals this season. Let’s also assume that his overall play during the course of the entire season is deemed worthy of a top 6 caliber of play (excluding PK duties). Is he worth $10 million AAV in your mind? My input is a yes. Edited Monday at 02:28 PM by Carmel Corn 2 Quote

Of course it’s too early in the season to make any firm conclusions about him. But how he has played in the first two games has been startling in a positive sense. So I say HELL NO to what you are recommending! 1 Quote

If Quinn said no to a long-term deal, then my guess is that the offer was less than the Doan contract. If the Sabres offered Quinn something between the Doan and Benson deal, I would be surprised to learn he said no. Indeed, I would be surprised if he didn't take that deal today if offered. Quote

If Winnipeg turned the package down before now you can go back and say, hey, see, this Quinn guy is pretty good so let's deal. Makes perfect sense to tip the scale and get the deal done. 1 Quote

Let's say Quinn pots 30 goals this year and thus wants more than Doan and Benson, league inflation and they give him 10 million. Next season it drops into low 20s and Kulich or Östlund pops in high 20s or even 30 and wants more than Quinn or the same and so on until you have to pay Tage 20 million . I'm exaggerating a little but you can see how quickly this can all unravel. Quote

The beauty of the contracts they've recently signed is that they only have to worry about Quinn, Kulich and Helenius popping. Everyone else is locked up for at least 3 years and in many cases a lot more. They're in great shape to handle all the popping that can possibly pop. 3 1 Quote

There is a good chance that Quinn will be our second best goal scorer next to Tage. It seems that you arguing that it is a reason why he should be dealt because his value will have increased. That makes no sense to me because his goal scoring talents are a good reason why he should be retained. On this issue we are riding in different buses going in the opposite direction. Helll no yesterday, helll no today and hellll no tomorrow! Quote
