Can't start 0-2 by losing to ***** Chicago.

Does the panic hit Sabres fans if they lose to a desperate Blackhawks team? Especially when Boston, Toronto, and Florida all look improved

These ones always make me wonder about the differences between Sabrespace and Buffalo.

Sabrespace is full of concern, ready to launch Appert and UPL tied to a Zamboni into Lake Erie, and teetering on the brink of turning on Jarmo.

I suspect Buffalo is mostly just excited for the coming season, and poised to erupt as it gathers to watch a banner being raised for the first time in two decades.

I mean, I can see UPL getting booed if he lets in a few softies, but booed during introductions?

Thats some hardass fandom there, usually reserved for the eternal perfection-seekers that hang around here.

Perfection-seekers, that's rich. Having a little trouble hiding your disdain for your fellow posters today?

This franchise was in the wilderness for years, outside of a stretch of red hot hockey that lasted a few months. JK objectively speaking has been asleep at the wheel of any attempt to keep the good times going.

Skepticism is warranted. Cheer the banner all you want. It's old news.

The thought of the crowd booing upls introduction is ridiculous. yes, he had a bad game  and yes I wish we had different goalie, but he's not getting booed out of the building before the 2nd game kf the season starts.

This is the fan base that booed Samuelson during intros last year… once the beer Sabres start emptying it’s a toss up where the vibes go

Im disdainful for wondering if general Buffalo fandom feels differently than the hardcore fans of Sabrespace?

That right there is why I think fans would boo. We all know he sucks and have gotten use to his consistent inconsistency. The booing is more an emotional response to not doing anything about the goaltending rather than the goalie himself.

Big win incoming. I don’t know the last opener I went to, but I’ll be there tonight!

Awesome.  Have fun!

There is absolutely no reason to boo any player during introductions unless it's Dylan Larkin.

And most fans who actually go to the game tonight will be excited for the banner, the home opener, and the prospect of a win.

I think everyone here knows that I don't think UPL is sufficient in net, but there's no way I'd boo him during intros.

Samuelsson going into last year was in worse standing than UPL going into this year and I don’t even think it’s really close

Is "perfection-seeking" an insult?

I think you are being overly negative and that it is way too soon to draw any conclusions about how this season will go. Not making a trade so far is not evidence that a trade won't be made.

I will say though, that you at least have the villain right. The Sabres' turnaround last season was driven largely by goaltending. They received best in the league goaltending from Dec 1st through the end of the regular season. Anyone who pays attention to hockey, knows that the Sabres do not have a trio of goalies likely to repeat that performance. Yet, somehow the villains are UPL (arguably the player whose performance a year ago was the most critical to the turnaround) and Chevy, that loser GM in Winnipeg (what a d!nk for not giving us the best goalie in the world). If this falls apart, the villain is Jarmo (and, I would add Ruff). A very different path could have been taken. Still, way too early for conclusions I think.
