inkman Posted Friday at 02:10 PM Report Posted Friday at 02:10 PM After watching Zach Metsa almost commit suicide by enforcer last night, I figured now would be a good time to get the board’s sentiment on this topic. 1 Quote

#freejame Posted Friday at 02:49 PM Report Posted Friday at 02:49 PM I don’t need a heavyweight. Give me a scumbag who will run Kent Johnson into the boards and then take his whooping from Olivier. 2 Quote
Goldseatsaud Posted Friday at 02:55 PM Report Posted Friday at 02:55 PM They need a Larry Playfair guy. It bothers me that they don't have that 4 2 Quote

I entered the season optimistic that our boys would get by with what they had. Less than half a game into the season, they are clearly not going to get by. Now is the parade of scumbags who will treat the Sabres like toddlers and have their way with extracurricular stuff. If other teams are going to employ these players, the Sabres should too. I’d offer whatever Columbus would want for Olivier. I’m tired of coming away from the every game, win or lose, with our tail between our legs because some psychopath on the opposing team is taking extreme liberties with our players. It didn’t help the Sabres didn’t capitalize on the 5 on 3 (shocker) and no one even sniffed Olivier the rest of the game. The Sabres were intimidated. When you ice 15+ players that have no business getting in a pillow fight let alone an actual fight, this will happen. Shame on Jarmo for not having the players backs. Oh well, another season of getting tossed around the ice like children. 5 1 3 Quote

But he can do it when needed. Carrick is a middle weight. Gilbert can't play hockey good enough to even get on the ice. Fact is there are only a few monster fighters that can play 10-12 minutes a game and not hurt you. Olivier is one of them. Perhaps the Sabres should do more scouting in the Biloxi, Mississippi area to find the next Olivier? Quote

He was looking for someone to deck Olivier. Those guys can do that. None of them are great scrappers. Gilbert might be the only passable one among them and as you mentioned, he’s not great at the hockey. Quote
JoeSchmoe Posted Friday at 03:53 PM Report Posted Friday at 03:53 PM I'd have just slew footed him then go full turtle after he gets up. No shame! 1 Quote

ponokasabre Posted Friday at 04:20 PM Report Posted Friday at 04:20 PM I think I can agree that the days of a Nic Delaurius riding that 4th line wing spot are gone for the most part. I mean you can see that even he didnt play in the playoffs. But they do tend to still play in the regular season. I think we need a forward like an Olivier (Unicorn, only one of them), or a Crouse or Bennet, or Marchment, or Joshua, or Sherwood, who can still play, maybe score 15-20 and can fight and address when needed, that would change this team instanltly Hard to aqcuire but would change this 1 Quote

Metsa seems like he was fine. "sabres were intimidated" I didn't see that at all. 1 hour ago, inkman said: I'd give up significant assets to acquire one. Quote
LGR4GM Posted Friday at 05:51 PM Report Posted Friday at 05:51 PM You know what ***** it. Please bring of Geersten and give him 12min a night for the ENTIRE SEASON. I just need it at this point because nothing other than the total and abject failure of bringing in a "heavyweight" will make you people understand that toughness is not 1 mofo taking swings so Metsa doesn't have to but a team that just simply DOES NOT PUT UP WITH OTHERS *****. We actually saw that last night, Metsa was the closest and addressed it. Everyone else got into it. That is what toughness is, a team attitude. But nope, bring in a heavy weight, please. For the love of the hockey gods, bring that guy in so I can watch him get caved in on xGF every night and fight 8 times a season. Please, because nothing short of that will make this place understand that the issue at the end of the day was not toughness last night, it was a ***** pp and a terrible goaltending performance. Hallelujah, holy *****, where's the tylenol. 2 1 3 Quote
msw2112 Posted Friday at 06:06 PM Report Posted Friday at 06:06 PM While it would be great to have a pugilist on the roster who could go toe-to-toe with Olivier and can also play hockey, those guys are few and far between. What the Sabres needed to do last night was to score 1 - OR TWO - goals during the 5 on 3 that they had as a result of Olivier's goonery and win the game. Metsa's effort in taking on Olivier was a much better effort than the meek effort on the power play. 1 Quote
North Buffalo Posted Friday at 06:11 PM Report Posted Friday at 06:11 PM (edited) Yeh Sabres looked in preseason mode, even Dahlin looked passive... Mal line barely on the ice... switch Krebs with Kulich and have a straight checking line... Geersten may be a firestarted but he Sabres season has started... not old man beer league anymore...
