LGR4GM Posted October 1 Report Posted October 1 I'm oddly interested in Crevier. He looked good in the offseason Preseason. 7 Quote
Flashsabre Posted October 1 Report Posted October 1 (edited) Nice. I like him and what he brings back there. One of Mrtka, Rudolph, Kleber have to become their top trade chip right now because the backend is locked in long term Edited October 1 by Flashsabre 1 Quote
oddoublee Posted October 1 Report Posted October 1 I've been more intrigued with him than zellweger, candidly. 4 4 Quote
mjd1001 Posted October 1 Report Posted October 1 (edited) They know what they have 1000 times more than I do, I just would have liked to see him play in some games for the Sabres before this...so I'd have a better opinion to post on whether I think its a good deal or not. So, All of Dahlin, Power, Samuelsson, Zellweger, and Crevier (basically your top 5) now locked up through 2029 (the next 3 seasons). Edited October 1 by mjd1001 4 2 Quote
tom webster Posted October 1 Report Posted October 1 Just because they are locked up doesn’t mean they will play out the duration of their careers in Buffalo. These are the kind of contracts that will be easily tradable should the prospects outperform them. It’s a win win unless they are wrong about five or six guys. Odds are good that they will at least be right about two. 5 5 Quote
Doohickie Posted October 1 Report Posted October 1 Big if true. Well he's big regardless. 15 minutes ago, LGR4GM said: I'm oddly interested in Crevier. He looked good in the offseason Preseason. He was arguably CHI's best Dman last year (better in several categories than Vlasic). 2 Quote
Scottysabres Posted October 1 Report Posted October 1 (edited) This is a solid signing, for a player that is actually good at his position. And as Tom mentioned, very movable contract. I see 0 negatives to this. Edited October 1 by Scottysabres 1 1 Quote

SabresBaltimore Posted October 1 Report Posted October 1 Cap is going up, and this locks him in on a reasonable AAV until he's 30. Hopefully he outperforms it, but I like it. One less thing to worry about in the offseason. If he has a big year, we look great. If he has a terrible year, it won't be the end of the world paying a bottom 6 guy 4m next year when you've got Metsa at 900k, Zwelleger at 3.1m and Timmens being an UFA Quote
nfreeman Posted October 1 Report Posted October 1 Interesting. They must've liked what they saw in preseason. He turns 26 in May, so this secures him for his age 26, 27, 28 and 29 seasons. 3 1 Quote
dudacek Posted October 1 Report Posted October 1 He’s looked good in my viewings. Surprising, but it shouldn’t be given what we’ve seen from Jarmo. Having three studs locked up for at least 4 years on good deals, and two solid players with upside for at least 3, with two top 10 picks already in the pipeline might be the best blueline situation of any team in the league. 4 3 Quote

GASabresIUFAN Posted October 1 Report Posted October 1 (edited) Jarmo is really going for cost and roster certainty. Hopefully all these recently extended players - Krebs, Malenstyn, Doan, Benson, Östlund, Zellweger and Crevier live up to their new deals. 5/6 of the D are now signed long term. 7/12 of the forwards are signed through 29/30, including 2/3 of the top 9. Who’s next? Edited October 1 by GASabresIUFAN 1 Quote

JohnC Posted October 1 Report Posted October 1 The GM should be given credit for handling the Byram situation. He acknowledged the fact that he wouldn’t be able to re-sign him after this year. So he dealt him when he had value, getting Crevier and a high draft pick from Chicago that was used for a highly rated prospect. He also traded for Zellweger, so the unit shouldn’t be significantly impacted by the loss of a talented defenseman. In general, I have to give the GM credit for way he handled this situation. 2 4 1 Quote

shrader Posted October 1 Report Posted October 1 Zucker, Quinn, Danforth, Carrick, Kulich, Timmins, Grzelcyk (who cares), Lyon, and Ellis. Those are the only guys without contracts for next year. The goaltending is the main long-term question. Quinn and Kulich have show me years. The rest can stay or go, it doesn’t really matter. This setup for quite a while, but there can/will be trades. They probably offered him 7 or 8 and he wants 9 or 10 (or thinks he can earn it with a good season). I mean, I almost think Östlund was a sucker for accepting 8 x 6.6. He'll be worth three times that toward the end of the contract. Edited October 1 by Doohickie 2 Quote
