With the short preseason, veteran limits for games played and new line combinations I hope Lindy is going for a smart strong defensive game plan out of the gate.

Here we go its time to show what we got and I hope its a lot of what we saw last season. 

Let's Go Buffalo.

And if it turns out that they have 5 guys that at worst can be a poor man's 3, well, you're starting to get into Blackhawks SC era territory which is not a bad thing.  But, right now, when all are healthy he's the 6.  Hopefully he plays like a 2/3.  Would go a long way towards making this D better than last year's was.  And that was pretty darn good.

He may play on the third pair but he's Top 4 D capable.

My theory on why Jarmo wanted Crevier is he wanted Muel IR Insurance, someone to slot in with Dahlin and not miss a beat.

I think once our back end is healthy they'll waive Grzelcyk unless he really wows Lindy and Jarmo.

Someone has to go to make space for the call up. The designation is retroactive to the date of the injury (that still applies at the start of the season, right @Taro T), so he can return to the active roster tomorrow if needed.

Re: Bedkowski. Or whatever # D Gilbert currently is.

Kleber would have a definite advantage. Maybe Strbak or Mrtka next season if either takes a jump or hasn't been moved in a trade.

Dahlin, Muel, Power and who else?   Crevier, I would assume.  

How do you know so much about Crevier and Zelly?

It certainly does appear that it dates back to the date of the injury as it also appears that there is a very good chance that Samuelsson will be playing tonight even though this is only the 3rd day of the season and IR designations are for a minimum of 7 days.  😉

What does that say about Zellweger?  

I mean honestly I kind of like the idea of rolling 3 defensively capable, offensively talented D pairs, and it seems that's key to Lindy's system.

My Dearest Rachel,

   I take pen in hand once more, by the dim light of a tallow candle, as the army prepares to embark upon another campaign. I pray this letter finds you and the children in good health, and that the celebrations of last spring have not yet completely worn you out.  It seems almost unbelievable, my love, that only a short time ago our beloved regiment was still wandering through the wilderness, mocked by neighboring armies and cursed by a thirteen-year drought that seemed destined to last until the end of time.  But today the ranks are anxious for another season to display their deft skills on the battlefield against a seemingly more potent enemy in the Atlantic division. 

   The men have returned from battle emboldened. Their shoulders are broader, their confidence enormous, and their memories of humiliation have been replaced by the intoxicating belief that perhaps, just perhaps, Buffalo has finally learned how to wage war.  Some of our younger ranks, like Major Benson, have even used the spoils of their newly increased wages to purchase transportation.  Yet there is no time for rest.  Tonight we march into Ohio against the forces of Columbus.  The Blue Jackets have gathered their troops and foolishly believe they are prepared to challenge us for control of the Eastern Conference.  I have instructed the men to show them the same mercy we received from the hockey gods during the abyss from which we have arisen. That is to say: None whatsoever.

Tell the children their father once again rides into battle — not merely for the 100th regiment, nor merely for the glory of Western New York, but for the sacred right to remind the citizens of Ohio that their hockey team has been placed directly in our path.   If fortune favors us, the Blue Jackets shall soon discover that the Army of Buffalo is no longer fighting merely to survive.   We have tasted victory; And God help Columbus, we have acquired a taste for it.
