It’s not for everyone. Especially those with a choice and spouse. Fans are always starting these "his wife wanted out" threads cause it makes it easy to stomach. Tuch wanted more money than the Sabres would pay. A few extra million a year let's the wife do a lot of high end shopping so sure she likes it. I mean it's not like he went to Florida for a beach house. It's Washington. Unless you got a big thing for the Smithsonian it's not exactly paradise. The water in the reflecting pool is a lot worse than the Niagara river. Quote

LGR4GM Posted Sunday at 01:16 AM Report Posted Sunday at 01:16 AM Friedman just said Edvinsson isn't interested in signing with Detroit now. Prefers a trade. Detroit has no gm (only interim) and Dylan Larkin is being booed at home games. My God what a ***** show. 1 1 1 Quote

kas23 Posted Sunday at 03:29 PM Report Posted Sunday at 03:29 PM I live in Maryland right outside the beltway. DC is OK. Believe it or not, I prefer Baltimore. I’ve lived there too. Fells Point and Federal Hill are so charming. As for Tuch, there’s a snowball’s chance in hell he’s living in DC. Probably McLean overlooking the Potomac. That’s beautiful. 1 Quote
PerreaultForever Posted Sunday at 07:02 PM Report Posted Sunday at 07:02 PM My point is really that it doesn't matter. It's $$$$. These guys can buy a nice house in the best neighbourhood no matter where they play. Their kids can go to private schools and the wives can hang out in the best parts of town and do whatever they want. I do not in any way think Mr. or Mrs. Tuch thought "oh Washington I've always wanted to live there" when they made the decision. It was more "Oh, 2 million more than Buffalo? That's a free house." or something like that. 2 Quote
... Posted Monday at 04:36 AM Report Posted Monday at 04:36 AM The entire "they're making money" thing, while true, probably needs a caveat. A guy on a $10mil/yr contract nets about 51% of that after taxes, agent fees, and other player-related expenses. Not that $5.25mil is a bad kitty, but, for a guy making $1mil/yr it's not sport luxury. The latter player will most definitely need a job post hockey career. Quote

At the time I think Zary was basically a Krebs-level prospect. So possibly. What am I missing here? Zary has not taken the step forward they would want, but his #'s relative to salary seem well above waiver level. He is at $3.775 this year and next. Quote
