inkman Posted September 14 Report Posted September 14 Frankly, this is really the only way to get players on team friendly deals. It’s a risk but the way Lindy and co talk about Noah, the risk seems low. 5 1 Quote
Taro T Posted September 14 Report Posted September 14 Guess Östlund really likes it here. Wonder what sort of NTCs/NMCs are included, if any. Guy will likely score more than Doan and is locked up for a smidge less. Have to like that. 4 Quote
That Aud Smell Posted September 14 Report Posted September 14 No similar deal for Helenius because, I presume, he and his agent foresee him earning a huge contract in the near-term. That'd work for me as well. 1 Quote

Flashsabre Posted September 14 Report Posted September 14 Buffalo and Montreal have tied a lot of talent on long term deals that will look very reasonable in the coming years. I think Östlund is ready for a big breakout if he can stay healthy. 3 Quote

Dogness Posted September 14 Report Posted September 14 Another Kevyn Adams draft choice extended. Jarmo knows talent when he sees it. Smart move. This contract will age very well. 2 1 Quote
GASabresIUFAN Posted September 14 Report Posted September 14 Wow. Shocked. I guess Östlund is making the roster this year. (If that was ever in doubt). Should we now assume that McLoud is on the trade block? Quote
triumph_communes Posted September 14 Report Posted September 14 Huge fan of this. Hope he can stay healthy, only concern Id have Quote

I would not say he is frail, but his body of work in the NHL is scant and I am surprised the Sabres wanted to lock him for 8 years. They must consider him a sure thing to become a productive two way player. 44 minutes ago, K-9 said: That’s another deal that will look like a steal in the very near future. The kid understands how to play the game on every level. He is a smart player and it shows when he plays. Now he is a 6.6M$ guy and is still pretty much a rookie. 39 minutes ago, PASabreFan said: I'm torn between why would the Sabres do it and why would Noah do it? The Sabres are banking on him become a star player for them. Noah will be 30 when this contract ends. If he is a top 6 star for Buffalo then he undershot his worth. There is now one less asset to discuss in the possible Hellebyuck trade. Quote
GASabresIUFAN Posted September 14 Report Posted September 14 I also guess he isn’t going to WPG in the phantom Hellebuyck trade. Quote

dudacek Posted September 14 Report Posted September 14 Wish he was physically stronger. Love everything else about this kid and the way he plays. 2 Quote

He's now set for life. You never know when a career ending injury can hit. What about his family? @SDS 29 minutes ago, GASabresIUFAN said: Wow. Shocked. dudacek Posted September 14 Report Posted September 14 In terms of cap percentage, $6.6M next year is roughly equivalent of the $5M Ryan McLeod signed for last year. Östlund is a similar player with a higher ceiling IMO. And he is now signed through his entire prime. I think injuries are the only thing that can stop this from being an excellent deal. 3 Quote

I went the other way as his agent was likely as ask if a trade to WPG. If that was a possibility, then I doubt the deal gets done. Healthy, those two were always on the roster opening night. 2 1 Quote
DarthEbriate Posted September 14 Report Posted September 14 I like the term, because if he progresses in physical development he could be an Aho-lite. I like the price because starting next summer a 50-point Swiss Army Knife floor guy who could be an 80-point guy a couple times on the contract, could be an absolute steal. Quote

If it was part of a trade, the negotiations would have been done with Winnipeg’s GM. Jarmo is nothing more than a rubber stamp in that scenario. Edited September 14 by shrader 1 Quote
