This is amazing. Considering the insane contracts being signed these days, this will either look like a complete steal in a few years or just an average contract for his production as the cap continues to rise.

Here is the tweet version, which at least embeds here.

Seems a bit early, but I think the 8 year contracts are going away soon? I think the contract will age well. I like his game, but I do worry about his health issues so far. Small sample size on both things though.

This is decent. I am a little surprised the Sabres see him as such a key part of the team, but I'm not complaining.

The below are all signed for four or more seasons:

Norris-Tage-Doan-Benny-Östlund-Malenstyn-Krebs

Dahlin-Sammy-Power

That is 5/6 for the top 6, and your top 3 d men. Plus a third and fourth liner

I'm torn between why would the Sabres do it and why would Noah do it?

I get why the Sabres would do it, I think Östlund probably could have waited for a bridge and then really cashed in after that, however, it's a safe bet to take the guaranteed $50M contract. He's now set for life. You never know when a career ending injury can hit.

So what does the stat line need to look like for this to look as good as Tage's deal right now?

25/55 two way center?

I love the player. Love him. The high end skill. The grit. The tenacity.

My only concern (and it's stated upthread) is that he's had a tough time staying healthy as a pro.

But I also feel like that's something he can work on and improve -- better training, becoming more savvy, just getting stronger, etc.
