I grew up going to New Mexico every couple of years, as my uncle worked for the National labs in Los Almos. One of my favorite states. I took my family to Santa Fe on the way out to Pagosa Springs a couple years ago. We’re going back specifically to Santa Fe for a week in January.

The artist formerly known as New Mexico now New America 😝

Is the moon going to be called America next?

I was going to drive through New Mexico this year as part of a 66 years old Route 66 (plus more) road trip but I cancelled that plan. Don't and won't cross the border any more.

Meow wolf in Albuquerque is AWESOME, it's like a live weird art exhibit that you go through, play, explore, hard to explain.

Went to the White sand dunes national park and slid down them on a saucer and grilled in the cool looking retro areas with those silver sun blocker things.

McGinns has some tasty Pistachios, I still order the red and green chili mix and the atomic hot pistachio brittle.

It hit 118F the day I went to Roswell, the McDonald's is shaped like a UFO, the town is weird, but I liked it, the UFO museum was cool to see.

Hatch Chiles everywhere, get the Christmas mix and get both red and green. So delicious.

Christmas mix is the way to go. White Sands is awesome, I went when I was about 6. I’d love to get back. I liked MeowWolf in Denver better than NM, but it was still cool.

I do wanna check out the other ones, each location is different. Not sure any are close to us out here.

So many of my Canadian brothers and sisters feel the same way and I can’t say that I blame them. Border states, especially, have been hurt by the downturn in Canadian visits.

Don't blame you. I still love you my Canadian Sabres brother!

I was living in Lubbock TX back in 1981. The wife and I decided to drive through New Mexico on Christmas Eve. Roswell, Ruidoso, hiked to the top of Lookout Mtn, Socorro, then finally ABQ. Took the cable car up to Sandia Peak, walked around Old Town, had Christmas dinner at Denny's. A few months later we went to Carlsbad Caverns. I would love to go back.

Canadians don’t hate Americans. We just can’t believe you put that clown back in power. Americans you owe us a beer when this is over.😀

We can't believe it either.

Canadians will never pay for another beer if I am in the vicinity, so I will be happy to sponsor a brew or two. I am looking for to my trip to Gander where I intend to buy a round for everyone at the Royal Canadian Legion as well.

Question and mods feel free to delete this if it's not appropriate.

Maybe I just wasn't paying much attention, but I don't recall any past Presidents making all the unilateral decisions Trump has made. I always thought the US was similar to Canada in that Congress or some other body like our Parliament had to approve big decisions (though I know the President has always had veto power).

Without getting political or taking sides can anyone say if I'm seeing this right? I don't follow US politics on a day to day basis so it's entirely possible that this has always been the case and Presidents have historically made a lot of individual decisions.

I know when the tariffs were first announced, Trump used what he called the Fentanyl emergency loophole to invoke the them. But now I don't really see him invoking the loopholes... Or maybe the media just isn't saying which one anymore? Ideally, I'd like if Sabres fans from both sides of the border had the same name for Lake Ontario, and I was pretty surprised how easy it was for Trump to change it on his own.

I hope I kept this politically neutral enough to stay posted 🍻.

Sort of. That was definitely the case but now more and more of us are wondering why it can keep happening and why there are still millions of supporters for all of it and I'm not talking politics or policy which we can all disagree or agree on but all the extra "stuff" that just looks like insanity.

I think people love a good soap opera, and this is what we have, it's theater and drama at its highest order. Sadly the stakes are much higher than a simple Television show.

I've been asked a lot over here this week about our political culture, I don't have much to add as I don't really pay attention, but safe to say the reach of this stuff extends beyond our backyard and across the pond quite easily.

I just think that all politicians are actual S*it head narcissistic sociopaths; the only difference is that some are much better at faking it in front of a camera.

Anyways, back to New Mexico 😂🇲🇽

Speaking of things around lake Ontario... We have Ford Ontario in Oswego. I think he probably could have that renamed fort America right?

If he gets really bored... Imagine we have another trade dispute with Great Britain... Anything with a name that comes from there... New York? How about New America? Pretty much every other town name in New England would be up for grabs too.

I disagreed with your original post because for some people this is becoming a serious matter.

People's jobs, their careers are at stake. Their family's livelihoods.

And it's on American citizens... As they are the ones who continue to support him and they are the ones who put him in office.

Remember he basically ran five campaigns in the past decade. Two primary campaigns and three presidential campaigns. And "Americans" voted for him over all the other choices in 4 of those 5 campaigns.

People in power often only can do the things they do because of the people who voted for them.
