Hail, fall

Today is the start of meteorological fall, a scheme endorsed by @That Aud Smell's thugs down at the NWS. I also endorse it. Astronomical fall starts on Sept. 22, which seems too late where we live. So Sept., Oct. and Nov. is fall.

Anywho, like most, I love it. Summer has its niceties, but nothing beats fall.

But why? What is it exactly?

Let us count the ways.

those NWS meteorologists are the best. and they have long been the best. not perfect, mind you. but they're the true nerds - trying to get it right.

and they're completely and totally understaffed at this point, not to mention beaten down and demoralized.

the thing i love the most about fall is that - in this neck of the woods anyway - it means an end to gross dew points (and the swamp ass often created thereby).

For me it is the cooler weather which allows me to do heavier yard work without sweating my *** off. The mosquitoes go away with a hint of frost and I can reclaim my trails to walk the dog. Use of A/C drops significantly and windows are open to enjoy fresh air.

I was born in October so fall is naturally the best.  Kids are back in school.  Cooler weather. People seem generally happier until after the holidays.  Hockey and Football.

Preseason doesn’t even count as “technically.” I was thinking of extending the streak thru our SB win, but didn’t wanna sound cocky.

Well, the cider mill opens, so bomb donuts and cider...

I like maple and caramel apple things, no thank you in Pumpkin spice though. 

Cooler weather is better, my Electric bill goes down as the AC can be off or st least turned down a bit. 

No damn children at the local YMCA when I want to relax and go to the pool. 

Also, once the main summer months are over, I start traveling more in the off season, as I type this over the Atlantic ocean 😊

As you know I extolled the virtues of summer in the past, but I concur that Fall is an amazing time of year.  Looking forward to it.
