Considering that's the only Great Lake that doesn't border Canada, isn't that a bit like Mexico deciding to refer to the South China Sea as the Phillipine Sea?

It's not quite Lake America but two words: Boldt Castle.

Stay at the resort in Alexandria. Walk to the little town and be sure to hit the BBQ joint. Don't skimp on the castle's boathouse - totally worth the extra $4.

We did this one year over Independence Day. Watched the fireworks over the castle from the outdoor restaurant at the back of the resort.

Great few days. Worst part was the mattress was super stiff.

I think you missed the point. Yes, that lake is all yours, just like the files and the people in it. All yours.

Lol, you good? Sunshine, Google will literally show you the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of Mexico if your IP address is outside the US. They only "renamed" it for the Lord Poopypants. So in the entire rest of the world, NO ONE GIVES A *****, that Lord Poopypants made some sort of Michael Scott level declaration and nobody gives a f##k what he personally calls Lake Ontario. Lake Ontario was there long before Donny, long before the United States, long before Columbus or even Leif Erikson. It will remain Lake Ontario long after the national embarrassment that is Don the Con. So to answer your twice posted question, no, I am not threatening you.

Idk what Lake America is, but you aren't the first person to suggest visiting Alexandria Bay on the eastern end of Lake Ontario. Sounds great, I have only ever driven by on my way to other places. Thanks for the recommendation. 

 

FTR, I am actually planning a little trip next summer around parts of Lake Ontario. The idea is to either go up to Toronto with some stops along the way, or go to Montreal with some stops along the way.

Thank you.  The Iroquois named it and it predates the arrival of the Europeans.  The fact that someone writes a new name on a piece of paper and signs it is immaterial.   
 

Changing the names of geographical places and features is a sure sign of delusions of grandeur.

The Fort Niagara tour on the US side is excellent   I’ve have sent a few friends that are history buffs to that fort and they all loved it   The Canadian fort  has been rebuilt in a different location

I take the wife go to Niagara on the Lake just about every year.  We enjoy going there.   I would not call it “small town, white picket Americana” at all.  It has a distinct European style and flavor, much more old British than Americana.  Look at the names of streets and shops.   It actually feels more old Brit than most places I have been to in the UK.  

This Lake America stunt is more embarrassing childish showmanship by someone who doesn’t understand what leadership really is.

If you’re deciding between Montreal and Toronto go to Montreal. It’s better in every single way.

It's one of the best freshwater fisheries in the world. I fish out of Oak Orchard once or twice a week in good weather. To me it will always be Lake Ontario, The Gulf of Mexico and the Tappan Zee Bridge. Renaming this feels like shooting a goal into your own net and saying you scored.

Alexandria Bay and Clayton are close together, maybe 10-15 minutes?  I actually prefer Clayton a bit more.  If you are wanting to say in a large hotel that is a bit upscale, the 1000 Island Harbor Hotel is right on the water in Clayton (there are other bed and breakfasts and some good smaller hotels scattered throughout the area though).

I don't know, I still think it IS what many people think of small town usa. I am not a frequent visitor to Europe, but when I have been there it was in a few places in Germany and Poland, and NOTL reminds me more of small towns scattered throughout New England here than it does that parts of Europe I saw. They do more of a 'central square' thing in towns, where in 'America' its more of a 'main street' type of thing. (again, from my very limited travels outside of North America)

For example you walk a block or two off of Queen street, you actually DO see houses with white picket fences.  The residental areas mostly have sidewalks and are lined with trees, houses with small front yards and some kind of backyards, a 'main street' (Queen street) with mostly locally owned shops, very few chains stores, and a very walkabout community.

Maybe SOME of the architecture is more european, but when I said "Small town Americana", I was referring to the things listed above, the non-cookie-cutter houses, sidewalks, tree lined streets, a main street with local shops, and yes, a few actual white picket fences.
