And somebody elsewhere pointed out that the mnemonic to remember the names of the 5 Great Lakes used to be HOMES. Now, SHAME works sadly. Considering it's the only one of the 5 that doesn't border on Michigan, couldn't he have gone for "Lake Nothing to Do with Michigan" instead? Ant the mnemeonic could've been SHNEM. mjd1001 Posted August 27 Report Posted August 27 (edited) Depends on what you like, what part of Lake Ontario you want to go go... -If you are into History, Fort Niagara is pretty under-rated. Watch a movie/documentary on the War of 1812 before you go and it makes it that much better. -1000 Islands (do you consider that Lake Ontario or the St. Lawrence river?) A tour of Boldt Castle and/or Singer Castle, among other things work there. -On the Canadian Side, a walk throug Niagarea-on-The-Lake. Its more "Small-town, White picket fence Americana" that just about anywhere in the USA. (and as a bonus, right across from Fort Niagara) -Of course, Toronto is one of the biggest metro areas in North America with tons and tons of 'city stuff' to do, right on the lake. Rip Titwide Posted August 28 Report Posted August 28 (edited) Chimney Bluffs all the way. By land or sea! Anchor out on the sand bar, then hit Sodus Point for some food/drinks.
