pi2000 Posted August 27 Report Posted August 27 Will this have any effect on Leaf or Canadiens fans filling key bank arena? Quote

I am sure there will be some people not going but those fan bases are huge and Buffalo tickets are so much cheaper. I know my pilgrimages to KBC have stopped for the last couple of years. It’s not like I kept the team afloat but a trip or two per year is a few bucks. I’ll probably see both games in Ottawa, another cheap place for tickets. Quote

Well, there will definitely be STHers selling to the marauders from the North, but the Sabres themselves will finally only be selling 4-5k to them directly rather than 9-10k to them. It'll help to even the odds. 1 Quote

My question is what happens when it comes to the attention of certain ppl that Buffalo plays both anthems before games? I gotta tell you, the Sabres cutting the Canadian anthem due to "pressure" would make my feelings towards the franchise, change. 4 1 Quote

That would be utterly embarrassing and quite shocking if it happened. 1 1 Quote

Let's take a look at their theme nights this coming season.. Pride Night, Women in sports night, native American heritage night, black history night, mental health awareness night.. lets be real, they're not cutting the Canadian anthem. 3 1 Quote

We are talking about a fan base that sang the Anthem last year when Cami's mike went out. There is no way they are not playing it. We can just sing ourselves if they do. 3 1 Quote
SabresVet Posted August 28 Report Posted August 28 Canadians will get over this. Just like they got over losing the Gold Medal game this year. Well, maybe not. 🤣 1 2 Quote

Well, maybe not. 🤣 The gold medal we are already over and eagerly await the next chance for revenge. The rest of this stuff is very different. How normalized it has all become in the U.S. is what perplexes us most. We know that most border cities and border towns have their heads screwed on pretty good and they are mostly like us, but there also seems to be this huge amount of acceptance and even support elsewhere. It's bizarre, but also troubling. Quote

It's bizarre, but also troubling. I know we have done nothing on the surface to deserve it, but please try to give the rest of us "non-border town" folks a little credit. Only the very stupidest of the stupids will fail to see this for what it is; a pathetic attempt to distract from an embarrassing (and likely illegal) war with Iran, an economy crumbling before our eyes, and the realization that "owning the Libs" has cost most conservatives far far more than that. Of the 45 metro areas (cities + suburbs) in the US with over 1M population, 36 voted Democrat and 19 voted Republican. Nearly 2:1. I don't think Donny Diaper carried more than 3 or 4 of the actual cities ... but things change rapidly as you move towards the suburbs, even in midnight blue Chicago (still D+25 in the entire metro region). My $0.02 on the map is that the red areas tended to have to be larger (Riverside, Phoenix) than the blue. 1 Quote

This is going too political for Sabrespace so all I will say is we have to stop normalizing the sort of behavior that is taking place. Left, right, republican, democrat, conservative, liberal, whoever, let's just focus on bringing back civility and respect and oppose anything that deviates from that. 1 Quote

Its hard to not continue a discussion in a political way when the word 'political' is in the post. I agree with most of your sentiment. Some policies I like are Right/conservative. Some are Left/Liberal. When I think about it, It is close to 50% one way, 50% the other way. I am not a friend to have a discussion with to anyone who is a steadfast supporter of either party. All I would ask for politically is what you mention above. Some civility. Some Respect. Being above acting like one is funny making jokes like an 8 year old would. I can adapt to most policy in my daily civil and economic life. I just have trouble with the extreme policy and with the juvenile behavior. It is very hard to always stick to hockey when we are on a forum in a border city with a large percentage of the fanbase residing in a nation different than the team itself. 1 1 Quote

I think it is just one more thing that someone who wants attention all the time does, and just thrives on chaos and havoc and throwing his weight all around wants. Take this for what it is worth (I don't have the link but I read it in a few places months ago), but there were 'reports' that in his morning briefings he would want to watch videos of things 'blowing up' when the bombing started. Supposedly if there wasn't videos of things blowing up or anything else exciting, he would simply stop paying attention. Again, I don't have the link but if you do a web search through 'news' or 'articles' you might find a few links. He's just bored and his form of 'anti-boredome' is to create chaos. 1 1 Quote
