I wonder how many times we’ve seen the best player in the world open a new stadium. It’s the perfect recipe for an exploding resale market.

Do you know how much more Toronto fans pay for tickets for games in Buffalo? Some reports indicate that selling tickets for Maple Leaf games defray much of the cost of season tickets. Is that an exaggeration?

That happened back in 2005/2006 when my seats were $39 each. I would sell six Toronto and Montreal games and cover my entire cost for the season. Now my seats costs over $100 each and usually just sell to friends and family at costs because there isn’t enough demand to make it worth my time.

I don't doubt that this factoid is out there, but it cannot possibly be true.

It's easy enough to take a look at the Sabres Ticketmaster site and see what the Sabres and the resellers are asking for the games.

Have seen it.  Expecting they're talking the resale market, but don't know that for certain.  Between the Bills being contenders and it being the 1st year in the new barn, can believe the tix are stupidly expensive relative to others.  Because the tix are stupidly expensive.

We bought two extra seasons just to sell and are averaging over $700 per seat. As long as they stay good we will make up our PSL’s for all six seats in four years.

I don't doubt that resale prices are high now, and I hope Tom's investment is fruitful.  But there is no way that prices will stay even close to this level once the novelty wears off.  Frankly I'd expect the last 2-3 games even this year to sell at a loss (which was my experience in being an STH for 20+ years).

We already sold the last two games and people who bought them want to pay us part of our PSL in order to guarantee one game per year. I expect that demand will subside but we wish we would have bought more. There is a large segment of people comfortable with traveling to events and spending crazy money on things that you and I would think is insane. I spent $1500 to see McCartney this year. First time I bought Zeppelin tickets they were $7. It really is crazy.

Half of my family are Bears fans who want to come to town for the December game.  I told them to cool it until closer to the game date; people will be concerned about weather, the Bills' fate may already be known, etc., so prices might come down.

Four years is definitely contingent on that but I’m one hundred percent confident we will cover the PSL’s within six years.

I was at the stadium last night and wasn’t overly impressed to be honest.  The concession lines were horrifically long everywhere and we walked around both upper and lower concourse.  While the old stadium was jammed walking around the concourse it didn’t feel like there was that much more room in the new one and with all the heads in the way the idea you can watch the game while ordering food is a fantasy rather than reality.  Our seats were in the 400s so most of my time was upper bowl concourse.  YMMV.  Like the Sabres I’m sure the lower bowl has more space and perks.  Still, glad I chose Sabres seasons over bills plus psl for myself.  Always fun being at a bills game nonetheless but my first impression was ‘I wish it was a better experience.’

I was there too. I thought the sight lines and steepness of the seats was great.  I like the look of the bowl. 
 

I thought the concourses were a huge letdown.  They all look the same and it isn’t for me. So much metal and grey and I just don’t get it…

But the concessions are named after local neighborhoods. That wasn’t enough for you? How about the graffiti art? The giant folding table?!

I watched all their promotional videos on building the new stadium and details that went into it.  The point of sale concessions were supppse to be all digitized allowing for a quicker process so you can get back to your seat.  Some lines were literally 100 ppl deep during the game.  I know it’s preseason with no Josh so maybe more people buying items during the game than typical?  Still pretty crazy.  One thing I did love was the Sky deck.  My favorite addition.  Open air and beautiful view of the Buffalo skyline.  Reminded me of a similar feature they have at arrowhead.

I have a good friend in the lower level, and a brother in 300’s.  Both told me they love it so far.  
 

I sured loved the memories of the old Rich Stadium (and its renamed variants), but 5 decades later I have become very tired of the old Highmark, it needed to be replaced and brought to current NFL standards.

That’s great they love it.  I’m sure I’ll be there again many a games but I’m not sure what you mean by brought to current nfl standards?  Some bells and whistles in the concourse?  Obviously the infrastructure was in need of upgrading but I’m not sure my experience was a whole lot better?  Josh sells the tickets. The open air yet protected seats for fans is very nice.  The food we finally got to buy was mainly the same old same old and took just as long (if not longer) getting the item and back to my seat as the old stadium and prices were (unsurprisingly) higher.  Sorry, will leave it at that.  I love the bills and happy the new house means the team ain’t going anywhere but I was definitely hoping for more.

A couple of things to consider regarding the concession lines:

1.  The people working the various concession stands and in the kitchen are brand new to this particular set up.  In the MMArena lines are always a lot slower when there's an early season sellout than they are when it's late in the season; all other things being held constant.

2.  There likely are STH discounts and at the MMArena, getting the QR codes for those to work properly is not always anywhere close to seamless.  And it actually oftentimes ends up way slower to get through the lines than it would if it were cash getting exchanged.

So, basically, would expect the lines to get better, but not necessarily great as the season goes on.  

(And lastly, if the new Rich is run similarly to the way the MMArena is run, management caters to those in the lower seats far more than they cater to those in the upper seats.  So, that could be part of the issue as well.)

Electronic payment systems are slower than cash.  But certainly more secure for the seller.
