Endless players talk about how well they are treated here. They are acknowledged without being hounded. The Sabres should push the narrative, especially to Canadian players that it’s like playing in Canada without the pressure but in a market that cares about hockey.

Besides, real estate transactions are public record. If a player wants to hide their identity, there are ways. It’s not unique to the area.

I would never pay $2.75M for a Clarence house. Especially given that it's probably in a cookie-cutter neighbor of McMansions that has previously been clear-cut. There are so many fine options of cozy, show-case style homes for half the price and will likely retain value, if not appreciate a little, while he owns it. Those would be in mature neighborhoods that have some character. Can't stand new-build neighborhoods.

For you and your much more limited income, yes.   For him it is a house he will turn for a profit on someday.   He spent just 5% of his guaranteed contracted income (before taxes) on his home.  That is good financial management.   Can you say the same?

I prefer mature neighborhoods too, but to each his own.  The new builds in this area of Clarence are typically on multiple acres.   These are not suburban cookie cutter houses on 100 x 100 lots.

Chris Drury has entered the chat. He couldn't go to the grocery store without being approached. Players said the same thing during the playoffs.

And in these crazy times, what semi-celebrity wants to see his real estate transaction in the news?

A trust is an estate planning tool.

A young guy like Doan would have likely used an LLC to obscure his identity.

I cannot tell if this guy is serious or not. The comment is dumb enough to not be serious but the person is the type to think this comment makes enough sense to be serious.

You must not be familiar with Clarence, as in, driving around checking it out on the ground. But even a real estate site validates my claim. Spaulding Lake is full of cookie cutter McMansions.

Zoom in on any property around Spaulding Lake. Most lots are between .5 and 1 acre. This is Clarence.
