darksabre Posted July 21 Report Posted July 21 I'm begging anyone to have an original idea for jerseys. Good grief lol 1 1 1 Quote
#freejame Posted July 21 Report Posted July 21 swap the pride flags for city flags. Throw it on this base with white stripes to match the city (too maple leaf?) Change the shoulder logos to a Falls logo 1 Quote
#freejame Posted July 21 Report Posted July 21 Alternatively, make the whole jersey a concept related to Beautiful River, the rapids, and the falls. Can go very 90s. Bottom edging of the jersey looks like rushing water/rapids through the gorge. Falls shoulder logos. Main crest some design incorporating mouth of Lake Erie/river/silhouette of city. Or can incorporate navy yard and USS Sullivan 1 Quote
#freejame Posted July 21 Report Posted July 21 Third option—city of good neighbors design. Main crest, mixed demographics pushing a car out of a snowbank. Shoulder crest of a handshake. Numbers designed around middle fingers. 1 Quote
#freejame Posted July 21 Report Posted July 21 Option four—it’s just Earl of Bud. Every logo is Earl of Bud, but the captains letters are made up of conehead’s conehead. 1 Quote

Change the shoulder logos to a Falls logo I absolutely love the concept of the Bison charging "out of" the jersey liked they did on the pride logo. I agree with the concept of city flags, or possibly an American and a Canadian flag... and to pay homage to the original pride jersey, use a Niagara Falls patch with a rainbow over the falls. Something like this... forgive me, I don't AI very well Edited July 22 by Doohickie Quote

Good grief lol Problem is we only have two colors, so just about anything is going to look familiar unless they break that. They have black and red to dip into, but unless they try to combo those, inspiration would need to come out of absolute left field. Quote

(It doesn’t, but that’s unrelated) It’s just definitely not named that. Shhhhh I know but it’s still got the name association to it now so it means something now. I’m sure there’s a German word for something that is made up but has become so commonplace that it’s now accepted as fact. Quote

Damn, you got me before I exited out my little jab 😂 I imagine very few Buffalonians actually know about the Beau Fleuve stuff. Doesn’t it come from Tim Graham? My guess is some random interview subjects in the city made the claim to him and he ran with it. I tried verifying it myself once and was told by the city it’s just not true and the naming of the city isn’t some mystery lost to time. It’s as basic as it seems. Edited July 22 by Hoss 1 Quote

I’m almost positive it was taught to me in school and then refuted at a tour of Fort Niagara. That’s cannon in my mind at least. If I had to guess, a sizable number of citizens think there were Bison here at one point. Apparently that’s not entirely refuted, but there’s no real evidence of bison while Europeans were here. As far as the name Buffalo is concerned, it’s probably some bastardization of an Iroquois word translated to French translated to English. Quote

Only if he came up with it when he was in elementary school at the eldest. Have heard the Beau Fleuve since being a kid and it likely has been around since even before PA was a wee lad. Now THAT's from a LONG time ago. 😉 Quote

I recall hearing the Beau Fleuve story from Vic Carucci during The Four Falls of Buffalo documentary. Quote
That Aud Smell Posted July 22 Author Report Posted July 22 the legend of beau fleuve has been around for quite some time. it’s untrue. but also fun. (it also runs contrary to how french explorers behaved when naming things in the new world — they were always as.sholes about it — e.g., Badlands, Coeur d'Alene.) Quote

Ah, maybe that’s where I saw it. I knew it was one of the grizzled vets of Buffalo sports journalism. 1 hour ago, Taro T said: Only if he came up with it when he was in elementary school at the eldest. I hadn’t heard it until like 2011 or a year or two later, and I haven’t seen it anywhere since aside from occasional social media references. Seems like there’s enough of a legend around it to lean into it for a jersey. 🤷 Quote
pastajoe Posted July 22 Report Posted July 22 I’d like something with script, like this 40th anniversary concept. 1 Quote
Taro T Posted July 22 Report Posted July 22 if they really are "City Connect" concepts expect the logo would be the normal logo with the electric bolts around it like that flag they gave away a couple of seasons ago. Quote
