Sabres Jerseys: New Alternates (Whither Black Goatheads?)

I presume that NHL teams - like NFL teams - will be taking a page from the book of top flight soccer in Europe and having a new 3rd jersey every season.

But what about the beloved black goatheads? 🤔

3rds are only supposed to be used for 3 seasons.  Suppose they could re-up them for another 3, but they usually like to change stuff up.

And "reverse retros" were an Adidas thing, so would be mildiy surprised if they did something like that.  Still expect a version where the blue replaces the black, yellow/gold replaces the red and the white and silver remain would look quite sharp.

Looking at more chatter and riffing off what @Taro T said — this new alternate might be more of a league-driven “4th” jersey? Like the NBA’s “city” theme (???).

3-year-term third jerseys seem to be separate from what this will be.

As long as it isn't gray with blue helmets like the Bills new 3rd uni is supposed to be; AND the front is the same color as the back, it'll likely be ok.  😉

I’ve read this a NHL wide thing city connect type of deal.  
 

The goat head isn’t a “third jersey” it’s just something awesome we do at 7-10 home games a year bc the players and fans want it.  It’s a “throwback.”
 

This team allegedly almost broke a league rule to wear the goat head for game 7 vs Montreal.  Should have.

The black goat heads ARE a 3rd sweater and were announced as such when they were brought back.  But, it looks like they'll be around for at least 2 more seasons as last year was the 4th season they were worn.

I doubt it would be good, but it’s better to shoot your shot than rehash. Besides, if they are bad it hurts their efforts to make money off of the fans. The goatheads were something brand new and now they’re a staple. Give me a cream jersey with a charging Buffalo (NOT LIKE THE BILLS) which darker brown shoulder, city flag shoulder patches and pseudo-leather gloves/pants.

What would the tradition logo look like on black jersey?

PS: My wife and I wore the black goat head jerseys to a playoff game in Boston.  Numerous Bruins mentioned how much they love those jerseys.  One even said it was his favorite NHL jersey.

With blue pants, yes.

They need to keep the silver outline on the head and any yellow be internal. Yellow outline looks bad
