If you were an NHL player, who'd be on your 10 team NTC?

The UPL/Hellebuyck discussion made me wonder who would be on my 10 team NTC (5 teams for UPL).  I'm curious how others here feel.

My top 5 are 

1) WPG

2) Calgary

3) Edm

4) NJ

5) NYI

My next 5 are

6) Ott

7) Chi  LA

8.) Seattle

9) Van

10) Ana

Could only get 5, I don't want anything to do with the type of cold in the first 4 cities locations and I just hate everything Boston, Bruins, Celtics, Red Sox and Patriots, hate em all!

My ten team no trade clause:

1) Winnipeg: It is too dang cold and I would prefer to live in a larger city

2 & 3) Vancouver & Calgary: Too far from home. And they’re bad right now.  
 

4) San Jose: Too far and their arena area is too far from the airport. They also used to (and may still have) annoying flight patterns and timing. 
 

5) Utah: I like bars 🤷

6) Dallas: I just don’t want to live there.

7) Montreal: Not interested in the fanatic pressure cooker of the fanbase.

8] Columbus: I don’t see a chance to win there.

9) Los Angeles: I couldn’t afford it.

10) St Louis: I don’t see a chance to win there.

Winnipeg, Edmonton, Calgary are outposts with miserable weather.  That's three.

***** Texas and Florida, that's three more.

Columbus and Carolina are Generica and I would not want to live there.  Two more.

Utah--no, just no.

That leaves one.  I don't like Manhattan at all (or Boston, but Manhattan is worse) so I guess the Rags.

This is kind of a bs question as there are mostly Americans here and they are going to rank most of the Canadian cities as NTC teams. If I'm a Canadian player I'm going to have a condo in one of your fancy slum cities but my off season home is in Western Canada so I'm just picking teams with the longer commutes for the list. Guess I'd play in the no tax states if my accountant said that was going to allow me a bigger boat at my cottage.

I'm hyperborean and don't like heat, especially in the winter.

Florida, Tampa, Dallas, Nashville, Carolina, Vegas, Anaheim, LA. Easy outs. Then... St. Louis because why would anyone go there? And Philly because of the color orange (Gritty is fun, but not enough reason to play there).

You'd think SJ, but I could always live up the peninsula in SF and the Bay Area was always a good place to work.

This is an interesting question.  What I might do if I am me (not an NHL player) versus if I was an NHL player would probably be different.  Even at league minimum, I'd be able to live comfortably in any market.  If I was an NHL player, I'd also be younger than I am, and good chance I might be single and more into nightlife than I am now, so a Chicago might have more appeal than a Buffalo under those circumstances.  If I'm me, I have lived in both cities and at my present stage of life would prefer Buffalo, but lived in Chicago in my 20's and loved it.  Quality of team and chances for competing in the playoffs/for the Cup on a regular basis would certainly be a factor too, which would put the current Buffalo team as a better landing spot than the current Chicago team.

Texas and Florida are not places I'd desire to live, but those teams are contenders, so I'd probably prefer those teams to some of the others on my list.  As far as Canadian cities, I could live in Toronto, Montreal, or Vancouver, all of which are cosmopolitan cities with weather that's pretty similar to what I grew up with in Buffalo and Chicago (or more mild, in the case of Vancouver).  I've never been to Winnipeg, Calgary, Edmonton, or Ottawa, so I don't have a great idea of what it would be like to live in those cities, but they don't hold a ton of appeal for me and none of those teams appear to be contenders at this point.  Also, if I'm going to be a millionaire NHL player and in the NYC metro area, I'm going to live in the city versus the suburbs (Long Island or New Jersey).

I agree with @PerreaultForever- any big city with a bad commute is my #1 hard pass.

That's Toronto, NYR, NYI, NJ, LA, CHI, and BOS I would guess. I heard SEA isn't great either.

WPG is a no. I've heard only bad things about St Louis. 

Aside: IMO I think Calgary is a pretty good city. Not as cold as Winnipeg or Edmonton, but has a decent downtown with one of the greatest places on earth in Banff just an hour away.

Further Aside: For any US Americans that have never put Calgary/Banff on their radar screens, I can't stress enough that you should go. Yes, there are Rocky Mountains in the US, but the geography/geology of the mountain peaks pale in comparison to Banff National Park. First time I went to Denver, I remember thinking, "Is this it?", having seen the Canadian Rockies first. The US Rockies are rounder and far less dramatic than their northern counterparts. They don't have the emerald lakes and the vegetation is less pretty. 👍

Seriously, I know the fan base is fanatical, but high taxes, limited social/ night life, lake effect affect...

Many of us know the value of WNY, but star players with lots of money probably don't care that much to be traded here.

Great exercise and harder than I thought. I can't imagine how tough this is for actual players.

Playing in Canada doesn't intrigue me - however, I hear Vancouver is awesome. Outside of that, I picked cities I've been to and know I wouldn't want to live.

Boston is a phenomenal city. I haven’t met too many people who haven’t loved it there. Toronto is fine, but it’s just Canadian NYC to me.
