Brawndo Posted July 15 Report Posted July 15 Per Press Release. He will be a senior advisor to the owner 1 1 Quote
French Collection Posted July 15 Report Posted July 15 He’s a legend there so they couldn’t run him out of town. However, he did nothing in his run to get them over the hump. 1 3 Quote
GASabresIUFAN Posted July 15 Report Posted July 15 (edited) Wow I know 3 ex-GMs who might be interested in the job. Edited July 15 by GASabresIUFAN 1 Quote
Carmel Corn Posted July 15 Report Posted July 15 I wonder what Larkin and Kane are thinking now….. Any chance they look at someone like Bergevin from the Sabres (since Davidson is coming on board)? 1 Quote

shrader Posted July 15 Report Posted July 15 They're so on top of thing there in Detroit that they even nailed the timing on this one. 6 Quote

oddoublee Posted July 15 Report Posted July 15 Didn't see it coming this year - but not remotely surprised. No playoffs and their captain publicly wants out. That's a disaster in the NHL world 1 Quote
Scottysabres Posted July 15 Report Posted July 15 Bergevin takes the GM gig, Larkin to Buffalo. 1 Quote

I'd love to be the new GM and still have Yzerman looming and with the owner's ear. That'll be a fun gig for the first year. 2 minutes ago, GASabresIUFAN said: Adams to Det (e5). Dude does know how to trade away a 1C, assets entering their prime, and prolong a rebuild. Quote
Ripper Posted July 15 Report Posted July 15 Kinda makes me think that BriseBois was the driving force behind the Tampa Bay resurgence so many years ago 2 Quote

Taro T Posted July 15 Report Posted July 15 Not happy about this. Like having division opponents run by people that are demonstrably bad at their jobs. Hopefully Stevie Y has a LOT of input on who his successor is. 1 2 1 Quote
LTS Posted July 15 Report Posted July 15 This has to be a play on two fronts. 1. Yzerman can't build a team. 2. Perhaps a change in GM helps retain Larkin. But the timing of all this is just... strange. Why let the guy work through the draft and free agency? If you are thinking in your head "let's see what he does here?" it should already be time to move on. Oh well.. good luck and all that. Looking forward to what happens next! At least there will be something to talk about. Quote

Scottysabres Posted July 15 Report Posted July 15 This is all a part of the Yzerplan. 1. Take the GM position 2. Destroy the teams rebuild 3. Get moved to the position closest the owner 4. Never remove your hand from the owners pocket, take that money….. 1 Quote
