My first thought was I can’t imagine worse timing to fire your GM

They needed him in place for the draft.... ?

I'd love to be the new GM and still have Yzerman looming and with the owner's ear. That'll be a fun gig for the first year.

Not happy about this.  Like having division opponents run by people that are demonstrably bad at their jobs.

Hopefully Stevie Y has a LOT of input on who his successor is.

This has to be a play on two fronts.

1. Yzerman can't build a team.

2. Perhaps a change in GM helps retain Larkin.

But the timing of all this is just... strange. Why let the guy work through the draft and free agency?  If you are thinking in your head "let's see what he does here?" it should already be time to move on. 

Oh well.. good luck and all that. Looking forward to what happens next! At least there will be something to talk about.

This is all a part of the Yzerplan.

1. Take the GM position

2. Destroy the teams rebuild

3. Get moved to the position closest the owner

4. Never remove your hand from the owners pocket, take that money…..
