I have no idea what happens with Krebs but if they sign him there has to be another move or two coming as they would have 15 signed forwards.

Lots of time to play things out.

I’d think they’d have no problem waiving Kozak if they had to.

And they can make a trade after things sort themselves out in training camp if needed.

Of course.

Waving Danforth would be a better option. I don't think he would get claimed with his salary and injury situation. They might want him to get claimed at this point.

Rochester is empty. I wouldn't be surprised if we run 14 forwards at the very least. Teams are always carrying one to two injuries at anyone time.

There’s a major problem with this if they’re going to run with three goalies again.

I see 18 guaranteed roster spots for: Thompson, Norris, McLeod, Benson, Doan, Quinn, Zucker, Krebs, Malenstyn, Carrick, Dahlin, Mule, Power, Zellweger, Crevier, Timmons, Luukkonen and Lyon.

I would be shocked if Östlund, Kulich and Danforth aren't in the last three forward slots bringing things to 21. Östlund, to me, earned a spot last year and the only reason I'm including him here is the fact he is still waiver-exempt. Kulich and Danforth could fall out of these spots if they've lost something since the last time they played, but I doubt that is management's expectation.

Ellis and Metsa are likely pencilled into the final two spots as things stand right now, with the expectation that Helenius will almost certainly force them to make a roster move in the unlikely event they actually leave training camp fully healthy. Konsta is the guy who will have to earn his spot by outplaying people in front of him, something he is fully capable of doing.

Gilbert, Johnson, Kozak and Sheary are probably next in line, but — barring injury — I expect them to be waived and to clear.

I feel like I'm the only person who thinks the Danforth and the Kulich we'll get in September are the same Danforth and Kulich we were expecting last September.

They were legit NHLers when they were healthy. I'm not sure why so many people believe their injuries have changed that.

It's not exactly that for me. It's more like I don't want to bank a season expecting that to necessarily be the case. I can't really say about Danforth and he's really not all that important as a bottom line guy but Kulich is a question mark. Matter of fact all the young guys are question marks.

I mean what if:

- Doan had a peak year and he's just not up to that every year and plays like the third liner we thought we had when we got him?

- Benson remains a pest but the production just doesn't come

- Östlund and Helenius have sophomore slumps and we start to see things similar to the Cozens kid line era.

- and then Kulich has lost a bit and has trouble getting it back

All things are always possible with young players. Hence when we rely on them my expectation is low and I hope they all keep getting better but I am very reluctant to rely on that for your possible success. It looks like we're stuck with that though.

If the kids (so to speak) are good, we will be fine. But if not, it'll all fall apart quickly just like it did for Ruff in New Jersey.

Waiver-eligible means that you have to be placed on waivers. He’s exempt.

You're painting a worst case scenario. Might work the other way, or somewhere in the middle. "Looks like we're stuck though" is likely true. What kind of plausible trade is out there? I was interested in Marchenko, but the rumor is Montreal had a ridiculous offer out there and it still wasn't enough to move him.

Except you aren't betting on Kulich, Östlund and Helenius to carry you, you're betting on 1 or 2 of them to be effective middle six players.

The Doan and Benson questions are much more pertinent IMO, because these are guys we are betting on to be top 6 players. I am more comfortable making that bet on them than I am making it on Mason Marchment, or Blake Coleman.

Your mileage may vary.

Tbf Helenius isn't a sophomore. He's Calder eligible.

Don't see it as likely myself, but if Helenius is the player many here perceive him to be, a spot between Benson and Thompson and a Calder nomination can't be out of the question, right?

Interesting that Zegras and Drysdale also filed for arbitration….interesting days ahead for the Flyers?

It just locks them in with Philly. It actually makes things much easier for both sides.

Zegras saw that 18 Mil offer sheet and may see himself elsewhere ?

He can't be offer sheeted now, one perk

That might not have been the worst-case scenario here

Hope he signs a 6-year extension with a full no-trade. Don't really care about the AAV.

Just like I hope the Pegulas legally adopt Seth Appert.
