You obviously don't spend much time there. The righties and libertarians for the most part stay away from there. It is far more left leaning than PPP is. Quote

Why? To keep the emotions that come with poltical discussion for most from spilling over into the main board. Find it interesting the question is asked on a board dedicated to a particular team in a not-quite major but definitely bigger than niche sport. The Sabres are our common interest. We could just as easily be on a board dedicated to the NHL in general or sports in general, but we're here. We want to talk abou the Sabres. But just because we love the Sabres doesn't mean that we come from the same walk of life nor that our life experiences causes us to see questions on how the government should be run and what our national, or even state or local level, priorities should be in the same way. And it sure seems like many, not even most, but many, can't keep their own emotions from getting the better of them when discussing politics and the quality of discussion of non-political items gets detracted from, derailed, and debased when they aren't kept separate. My own personal observation and it isn't applicable to just this site. You asked why every site needs the politics kept separate. Well, IMHO, that is why. 2 Quote
Scottysabres Posted July 7 Report Posted July 7 Anyways, we had a great 4th of July fireworks show on the pond here in Wheatfield. @K-9 did you catch any of it from down the road? Quote

Cranky old man Posted July 7 Report Posted July 7 As of 2025, 72% of the world's populationâabout 5.8 billion peopleâlive under authoritarian rule, according to the V-Dem Institute's Democracy Report. About 99% of the world's population earns less than $34,000 per year, which is below the U.S. median household income of $87,581 in 2025.- Progressive Policy Review As we enjoy wealth and luxury unknown by most of the current worldâs population, and unknown by populations over the last 1000 years, 250 years of the United States is worth celebrating. Take a trip to Gettysburg or Cold Harbor, or Flanders Field, or Normandy. Real bones and blood and suffering. The country almost ended in 1863, thatâs not happening now. Itâs not the worst itâs ever been. History didnât begin when we were born. Quote

I was âdown the roadâ in Atlanta where we are spending a couple weeks visiting family and friends. Had a great 4th of July party but didnât make it a point to go see any of the numerous fireworks displays, but we certainly heard them. My son, who still lives in DC, was able to watch the works at the National Mall from a spot just across the Potomac. It was sad to hear that access to the mall was closed to most of the general public this year. I understand it was a sea of VIP tents and the security checkpoints were unprecedented. If one doesnât mind huge crowds, crowded subways, and traffic jams getting to and from, then the fireworks display on the mall in DC is a thing to experience. We made it a point to go on several occasions when I lived down there. Glad you had a great 4th. 1 Quote
