That screws over the Ducks and I'll bet pissed off a lot of GMs around the league. Philly just reset the market in a way that's going to make things more difficult for a lot of teams moving forward. Makes it hard for teams with semi-elite to elite young talent coming up for deals in the next year or two. Makes it easier for teams that aren't in that situation, as they won't be competing as much with the above teams for any other talent. As far as the offer sheet goes, looking at who Philly has coming off the books the next year or two (not much) and wanting to resign Michkov...this doesn't make a lot of sens for them. Its not just the picks. Its your salary structure going forward. Eventually when you DO become a cap team, putting the best team together isn't just about pure talent, it is are you overpaying for that talent or not (vs what the rest of the league is paying for similar players). To contend for a cup, its likely you are going to have to be a cap team or near a cap team. When you are at that level it hurts you a LOT if you are paying that much more for players of similar quailty that other teams are paying less for. You may be correct that even the 4 draft picks will not get you back what Carlsson is...but this just puts Anaheim in a tough spot. If they decline and let him go to Philly, it puts Philly in a tough spot (not seeing how they would be able to keep Michkov in that case) Edited July 3 by mjd1001 2 1 Quote
