Nacho Libre Posted July 1 Report Posted July 1 Still gonna keep my hopes up. Not a super encouraging start though. Chad seems to think we are âdoneâ. Not exactly sure the time frame on that. Jarmo sounded a tad deflated 1 Quote
dudacek Posted July 1 Report Posted July 1 Well a few hours after his last presser he traded Alex Tuch and signed Zach Benson. 1 Quote

inkman Posted July 1 Report Posted July 1 Yeah the non answer for the Lucic hiring doesnât sit well with me at all. Jarmo has taken a big hit for this in my book. Iâm not going to forgive or forget. You just canât make that hire. How many hundreds if not thousands of qualified individuals were also available? Just a despicable hire. 5 2 1 Quote
HumanSlinky39 Posted July 1 Report Posted July 1 (edited) Glad we didn't overpay for anybody, this was probably the worst FA crop I've ever seen. The cream of the crop were depth middle-six guys at the very best and mediocre defensemen. So, unless a trade is made, hope is our strategy I guess. Jarmo has never been afraid of making in-season moves, so I guess there's also that. Edited July 1 by HumanSlinky39 Quote
#freejame Posted July 1 Report Posted July 1 Thereâs next to nothing that happened today that I would have wanted Jarmo to do. Weâre not done. Weâve only just begun. 2 1 Quote
Mr Peabody Posted July 1 Report Posted July 1 Not sure why this PC was held unless it was previously scheduled with potential news to share. Â He didnât look his normal upbeat self so wonder if an expected deal fell through? Â We donât need home runs but we do need something to keep pace in the east. Â 1 Quote

SabresVet Posted July 1 Report Posted July 1 To me the lack of action points back to why no one trades top picks anymore. Â You find top talent there, keep it, and build around it. Â Not tanking, but that's where the talent is. Â Because thereafter, it's hard to make trades with cap considerations and no UFA's that are reasonably priced versus production are available. I donât think itâs the same old Sabres and even with our losses I think weâre a more complete team by September than we were when eliminated. 3 1 Quote

Crusader1969 Posted July 1 Report Posted July 1 Looks like the Sabres have taken a step backwards up to this point in the offseason Still think this is a playoff team but not a 109 point division winner  im ok with this, we get a year to see the young players step up and see what they can do  Maybe the Helle trade still happens but hopefully the Jets price comes down  I still think a top 10 protected 1st, Mrtka and a goalie is a steep price to pay and should be max offer.  I'm hesitant to add a roster forward to the package as they don't have the depth that they had last season    Mayne they add Kane tomorrow and that allows them to trade Quinn?       1 1 Quote

Jarmo knew he couldn't replace Tuch in ufa and also knew 8yrs was too long. 1 Quote

In The Buff Posted July 1 Report Posted July 1 surprised there was even a press conference. Like what did he even talk about? Or did he just play charades up there the whole time? I had heard rumors picking up on Kane coming here, but unless we attempt to replace Tuch's lost offense, this season will be a bit of a step back from this past season. And after finally breaking the drought, that might be tough for some fans to get behind. 1 Quote

Waiting for the kids to develop turned them into a presidents trophy contender last season.  Best team in hockey from December onwards 1 Quote
