I think he lives and dies by McDavid. His numbers without his are not very good. He’s got speed to keep up with McDavid, but he doesn’t drive play.

He did, on a 13sh%. He'd have to roughly double his SOG. 1/3 of his goals were on the pp.

I suspect UPL will be traded too. And if we get someone like Helle, it's likely Lyon is gone. Which will be a shame, as I think Lyon was instrumental in getting the Sabres over the hump, and giving some trust and swagger in net.

Helle / Ellis is the pair. 

Oh I could still see them rolling with 3. At least to start the year. Lyon as back up and eventually he's gone and Ellis stays but initially I could see them just letting the contract play out. 

Clearly they did decide Ellis was greater than Levi though that's for sure.

Maybe and maybe not. Savoie had 18 goals in his first full year, McCleod had 9 goals in his first full year. Last year McCleod had 14 goals in his 6th season. I'm willing to bet Savoie's career will far outperform McCleod's. Time will tell.

When they first got him, they threw him out there for 7 games and he had a respectable 5-2 record with a 2.94 GA and .905 save percentage.

 

Then, what happened?

Is there anybody in the prospect pipeline to develop?   They used a 2nd round pick on Topias Leinonen in 2022.

They've taken 3 additional goalies since the Leinonen pick. Leenders, Ratzlaff, Maloche

Leenders is already gone.  They didn’t offer him an ELC.  

As to Levi, I think Ellis is the better player right now.

Savoie will probably out score him.   But defensively and the overall two way game goes to McLeod.   
 

We have a lot of Savioe-type players on the roster.  McLeod brings other tools.

I would argue we do not. That isn't a bad thing either. Savoie is a rush oriented winger with good hands who gets outmuscled in his own end but is a willing combatant. He's probably going to be a 60pt guy on McDavid's wing with his ability to maneuver in around the O zone. He has a good shot and he has okay playmaking. We really don't have a player like him anymore with Peterka gone. Benson and Östlund play different games. Kulich is similar-ish but again it has been a year so idk what he will look like. Helenius doesn't play hockey the same way. 

I agree with you wholeheartedly on the McLeod brings other tools.

So it appears Edmonton will be going with a Levi/Freddie Andersen tandem this year and bury Jarry in the minors?

Cant think they traded for Devon only to expose him on waivers.

Well, giving Andersen a NMC means HE isn't the one getting sent to the minors.

And agree that it would be quite foolish to have spent a 3rd to just try to send Levi to the minors.

Kind of wild that Jarry will be making over $5MM/yr for the next 2 and could be stuck in the minors.  Or will they enact their own version of the 3 headed goalie monster?
