Extremely disappointed in the way Levi was managed. Hope he has a great career in Edmonton.

how should he have been managed to improve the outcome?

I'm not happy with the way the Sabres handled Levi from day one. At this point it was clear that he wasn't in their plans because he now would have to clear waivers to return to Rochester. He would be claimed for free. The return is the minimum. I think Edmonton did well to get him so cheap. They got Savoie on the cheap also. Eventually losing value on trades will catch up to you. Fortunately, the Sabres won the Byram trade.

The fact they traded Levi does not mean for certain they are keeping Ellis. The lack of roster flexibility might still be an issue. Sorry to see Levi go but would be surprised if he ever was going to be more than just an average goalkeeper. I hope it goes well out west. He was fun to watch. I wonder how the Oilers are going to place him.

Not certain but being Jarmo was on staff when got Ellis and he's young and cheap makes little sense to let him go unless proves he can't succeed Lyon as primary backup next few seasons.

Umm, they're on record as saying they're good with the 3 headed goalie monster.  Personally expect there's a higher likelihood that he's on the roster when the season opens than either of UPL or Lyon.

If they land Hellebucyk, there's a very good likelihood he's the backup.

If they don't the 3 headed monster lives.  Heck, it could still live even with Hellebucyk in the fold if they decide they want to manage his load some considering his age and the injury issues last season.

To be clear, I'm not really responding to that part, just really dislike Hambone's old neighbour lady tendencies.

man, he said something on a hit he did while i was driving yesterday and i just scrunched up my face and thought: "well, THAT is absolutely not true."

i wish i could remember what it was.

i used to have space in my heart for the guy. but his cocky self-assuredness coupled with his growing collection of sh1t takes (mushrooms) has worn me down.

Remember what Paul said about Samson Reinhart? Good times.

What does he think of Konsta Helenius?

Think? He can't even pronounce his name correctly!

7 games in the NHL destroyed the kid. 🙄

And we sure as hell lost the Stanley Schenn trades, way too much to give up for half a season of nothing burgers.

It's not Jarmo 's fault the Kevyn got crap for Reinhart. Yet considering we moved a former 7th Round pick (and another 7th Round pick) that we got with a 1st Rounder in exchange for a 3rd means we're still ahead of the game. As Levi to me hasn't proven he's nothing more then a fringe NHL backup/average AHL goalie.

Did you watch any games Levi played with the big club?  He was an AHL phenom but young / small or otherwise, he was not an NHL quality goalie in any start that I can remember for Buffalo.

We gave up on him too soon. He is a two two Richter award winner and a two time Hobey Baker Finalist and only 2 yrs old. Ryan Miller did see action until he was 26 with the big club! Hopefully we don't regret this. Wait we already are because thi makes the Sam Reinhardt trade a complete ***** show!

One of the dumbest trades in the history of the Sabres.

Thats how one team wins  cups and another misses the playoffs for over a decade.  You find the fish GM to take advantage of. A 50 goal scorer for a non top pick and a 7th round goalie.  Reinhart has put up 395 regular season points for Florida, plus 56 playoff points and were still waiting for some payoff.

We had four goalies on staff. Someone had to go. Clearly they rate Ellis over Levi.

I suspect UPL will be traded too. And if we get someone like Helle, it's likely Lyon is gone. Which will be a shame, as I think Lyon was instrumental in getting the Sabres over the hump, and giving some trust and swagger in net.

Helle / Ellis is the pair.

Don’t forget the fantastic return on the Risto trade.

Ryan McLeod is better than Matt Savoie will ever be

No we didn’t. That’s what players cost at the trade deadline. We handled it fine.
