Trettioåtta Posted July 1 Report Posted July 1 So this makes it Reinhart + 7th for 1st and 3rd. What an awful trade. 2 Quote

Porous Five Hole Posted July 1 Report Posted July 1 (edited) As a Levi truther, I’m going to miss the “Rochester Resident” and his obscenely high save percentage in the AHL playoffs. I hope Jarmo is right with this decision. Ellis & Levi have similar size and AHL pedigree. It would have been easy to keep Levi in the fold next year and trade Ellis. Oh well. May the force be with you Devon. Edited July 1 by Porous Five Hole 3 Quote

So let me ask the follow up question which is if Jarmo doesn’t get a chance to see apples to apples comparisons between the two, why is Ellis kept and Levi moved? Both are waiver eligible. Same situation. Any other factors making Levi the stronger candidate? They've openly stated that they're considering running the 3 headed goalie monster back again. They know that Ellis has been a good soldier in that 3rd goalie prepare to play every game knowing you may never get into a single game as a starter and only a handful of games the entire year if all stay healthy and he's apparently stated he'd be good in that role again. Levi probably wouldn't be happy in that role. And that alone could be enough to tip the scale towards sticking to what you know has worked in the past should the Hellebucyk thing fall through. They're essentially at the same point in their careers and are essentially the same level/quality of prospect too. And they've got a couple of younger prospects they like too. Can't recall Kekalainen ever speaking his name in the few PCs he's held. He doesn't quite fit into their current plans; and with him needing to clear waivers next year, he doesn't quite fit into their LT plans either. Just like IMHO a big part of the reason that the guy he got traded for didn't get a LT deal when he was 1st eligible, things didn't work out for him here because of - timing. Not entirely due to timing; but it played a large part. Quote

inkman Posted July 1 Report Posted July 1 Paul Hamilton on WGR talking junk about Levi. "Arrogant" & "Thought too highly of himself" being used to describe Devon. Don't you want your young goalie to be confident and full of himself? Not for nothing, he never went to the media to complain about his role. Adams anointed hm the heir apparent in net for Buffalo and before Kevyn could utter the phrase palm trees, Devon was demoted and wallowing away in Rochester. 2 1 Quote

I’ll say this, and I can say this because I said it at the time so it’s not revisionist: the fact he’d sit out and block the scraping crew when he hadn’t proved a thing in the nhl WAS rather arrogant lol Quote

I think you can connect some dots with how he had to be on the NHL roster right away and then took way too long to be sent down. Is that on Devon or Kevyn, or some combination of the two? I don't know, but I can see it. 1 Quote

So the Jarmo would have moved on from good credit for the sole purpose of evaluating no credit. Seems simple to me. 1 Quote
