GoPuckYourself Posted July 1 Report Posted July 1 If we can get Kane for 3-4M AAV we can still land a player like Hellebuyck imo. I know Kane isn't the player he once was but he still put up 57 points (Tuch had 66 pts.), he won't be playing on the PK but would definitely be on a powerplay unit. I'm not a huge Kane fan but bring him on for a year, it might bring an energy to him, his family and the fans from being at home which is never a bad thing and still enough money to land Hellebuyck if the Jets are really trying to deal and not asking some insane price tag. To come away with Zellweger, Kane and Hellebuyck with the growing talent we already have now would be awesome. I'd also love a Norris upgrade but I just don't see anyone taking on that contract with his injury risk. 1 1 Quote
Warriorspikes51 Posted July 1 Report Posted July 1 (edited) Offer Kane 2 years for 3.3 mil per he could be a 70-80 point producer here. Certainly an instant power play upgrade. Edited July 1 by Warriorspikes51 2 1 1 Quote

Thinking he can suddenly go back to 70-80 points is… bold. He is who he is at this point. And he’d sign for 1 year at $3.3M in a heartbeat. Quote
sabremike Posted July 1 Report Posted July 1 The major obstacle is the one that will likely mean the only guys signed are for Rochester: there's no open space on the roster. Look at our projected starting lineup and tell me who gets removed for Kane (or any other conceivable signing)? Quote
xzy89c1 Posted July 1 Report Posted July 1 he has no interest in playing d nor backchecking. Watched him several times. Was always changing when he should have been backchecking. He is opposite of the veteran we want. 2 Quote

After years of players just not being complete players, bringing in one of the least complete players in NHL history, smacks in the face of that. 6 hours ago, Warriorspikes51 said: Offer Kane 2 years for 3.3 mil per he could be a 70-80 point producer here. tom webster Posted July 1 Report Posted July 1 Any smart team knows you can’t have all the same players. There is a spot for a player like Kane and a deep team like Buffalo can shelter him. What this last season should have taught us more then anything is how important one goal can be when the games get tight. It seems like there is a lot of smoke that this may finally happen and I really don’t see the downside. 2 Quote

He certainly still offers the playmaking skills missing on the PP. Mostly I worry about the sway he will assuredly have in the locker room. Will he be a leader for Lindy on a young club looking to take a step, or a distraction on a retirement tour? 1 Quote

I was never a fan of him or his family but people I know that are close to him say he’s matured into the kind of guy you want as a leader. I know I regret a lot of what I did when I was in my early twenties, so who knows. I wouldn’t want it to be their only move upfront but I think he can be very useful, especially if Quinn goes to Winnipeg. Quote

Be real curious what he could bring out in Kulich (or Norris for that matter, who needs to be nudged back to his role as a shooter) Quote

Trettioåtta Posted July 1 Report Posted July 1 If Quinn is traded for Helle, Kane would be a nice fill in for free Quote

Doohickie Posted July 1 Report Posted July 1 He's made $125M over his career. At this point he's just playing to give himself something to do. Quote

Against teams with good - very good top lines, that was a disaster in the short time Kulich and Thompson were together. Expect it would still be a disaster against top lines. 1 Quote

Norris Östlund Doan McLeod Zucker Quinn were effective middle-six units as well, Kuli is with Tage and Benny A Kane signing certainly would suggest to me Quinn or Östlund on the move Edited July 1 by dudacek Quote
