That final piece is the real concern. I can put the hockey part behind me, but it's the off ice stuff that I am not thrilled about having anywhere near this org.

Is this like a Make-a-Wish thing? Where the league finds absolute trainwrecks of former players and gives them a pretend little job?

So Ryan Miller has been an unofficial ambassador for this franchise almost since the day he left. 
 

Does anyone think he’s going to be cool with this? He was a part of this miserable franchise at its lowest points. Seems like Jarmo is operating with blinders on.  I’m guessing he’s unaware of how deep this runs.

I have assumed for some time that high lawsuit risk players get post career NHL jobs.  I wear enough tinfoil on my head to assume thats the case here.

Runs for Ryan or the fans? Maybe for Ryan it's a long forgotten play in a game.

This isnt supporting or defending the hire, it’s a scout position and likely matters very little, but I don’t really give two craps what Ryan Miller thinks.

A little perspective:  I hate Lucic as much as the next Sabres fan, but his job is to sit in other teams' arenas and assess talent. 

He will have little direct contact with players, so in terms of worrying that having someone prone to domestic violence on the club is going to somehow ruin the players, I'm.... not seeing an issue here.

Lucic just retired like a month  ago so he has no experience. I wonder what the connection is here

Assuming Lucic can speak coherent sentences, he played the game recently at a high level.

On paper, not sure what more experience is required for an entry level pro scouting job. 

He was playing with or against most of the people he’ll be watching and reporting on.

Not a commentary on the quality of the hire, only the qualifications.

I’d like to ask these fans to name another scout in the Sabres organization. Scout is the most nameless/faceless position in all of sports.

This kinda misses the principle of the thing. Knowing scouts is unimportant until it isn't.

Eric Staal comes off as an ignorant man. Probably stupid, but at least seems like he can tie his shoes. Lucic, on the other hand, gives the vibes of a giant baby.

The issue is it’s Lucic. I don’t really understand those who are playing coy here. He’s one of the most hated players for this franchise, and he earned it.

This isn’t the team hiring some respected scout who happens to be unpopular. There is nothing to indicate Lucic will be a good scout, but were the ones giving him that opportunity instead of literally anyone else taking that role.

It’s okay for the mob to be angry now and then, and nobody should be trying to claim they don’t understand why in this case.

I was going to respond but my point was essentially what @darksabre says here.

We don’t know who the scouts are and it’d be nice to keep it that way, but now we know one of the biggest villains in franchise history is one of them.
