Jack Quinn in 2026, what will he be?

He need time to recover not only from the Achilles and additional lbi’s, but also from the missed offseason workouts while recovering.

IMO that has put his development back.  The last two years his body couldn’t do what his mind saw for him to do.

This year his body caught up, especially in the playoffs.  But IMO his mind and shot development have been set back by the physical injury.

Next year he pots 25-30 and then we can have a realistic convo about the ceiling.  He is a very unique case.  Now finally fully healthy, let’s see what happens.

I don’t profess to understand his recovery timeline but I did see a better player at the end of the season and in the playoff.  He gets a lot chances to score and I think this coming season he breaks out for 30.

Maybe I’m alone in this, but I tend to believe Quinn is potentially the team’s most dangerous offensive weapon up front, next to Thompson.

We all know why it doesn’t translate: the passes to nowhere; the times he gets knocked on his ass; the hanging on to the puck too long; the shots that are just an inch or two wide.

My question: is there a way we can unlock all that talent? A linemate, or a role, or subtle shift in approach?

With Tuch gone, there’s opportunity. How can Lindy help Jack seize it?

I believe is he a RFA next year and will look for a big raise which we may not be in such a hurry to pay with al ou rother big contracts kicking in

I do think he replaces Tuch as the other 30 goal scorer on the roster. 
 

And I await a specific poster taking issue with my use of the word “replace”.

I haven't really made that connection, but I could see sticking Quinn in a film room with a video coach and showing him a Best of Tuch reel.  Not just the goals; not so much worried about that.  But the penalty kill.  The steals.  The forechecking.  I think he has the tools to do what Tuch did, maybe not at the same level (owing to his size), but close.

His skating metrics got a lot better this year. That may be the key to helping him creat his own shots instead of relying on linemates to get him the puck in good spots.

For me with Quinn it has always been he doesn't create his own chances.  He needs to keep getting better (skating) and go to the front of the net even more so he can get his shot total up to 240+ per year without them being perimeter shots.

Money is a great motivator. Most guys have career seasons when a new deal is on the line.

You are not alone in your advocacy for him. I thought that at the end of the season he was showing more dimension to his game from a passing, skating and responsible two-way game.

One way to maximize his offensive talents is to use him more on the PP. If used on the PP, I see him having a 30 plus season. As you noted, I can see him filling the void of the Tuch departure.

By the time the playoffs got here he was buzzing around the ice.  I think that was the first time we have seen Jack Quinn at 100% since the achilles injury.  I think he has a big year this year.

True.

But he just has to shoot more plain and simple. In the playoffs, his shots per game actually went DOWN compared to the regular season.

In the regular season he scored 20 goals on 191 shots (82 games). In the playoffs, his 82 game pace was 12.5 goals on 158 shots.

If he is going to stay here, he has to find a way to get more scoring chances.

Those kick in this year.

Next year the Sabres will have  $40M in space with Lyon, Quinn, Östlund, Zucker and Timmins to sign or replace.
