Alex Tuch Sign and Trade to Washington for a 3rd Round Pick San Jose (2027) and Forward David Kampf

It’s all about what they do with the draft assets and cap space.  If they don’t maximize them than the criticism is warranted (and then some).  But if they use them wisely these are the right moves.

I'd take that bet.

Zach Benson v Alex Tuch, whoever has the best ppg for the 2026/27 season.

deal 🤝

To a lesser extent of Briere and Drury offseason. Getting Tkocheck and Hellabuyck isn’t going to make this team better long term

You are massively overestimating the ability of Tuch. We have three players who will fill his minutes, Niceley. Byrum is more concerning but there is a lot of time until regular season starts. I doubt we make any picks in first round on Friday.

You're hosting the draft and hold #4 overall... you use it.

Hosting the draft has absolutely nothing to do with it.

At least we got something for Tuch.  Stupid money for a 60-65 pt player who will be 38 went the contract ends.

I seen enough of Tuch in Vegas and he always left you wanting more. For a guy of his size and skating ability he is way too soft.

I don’t agree that he’s at all “soft” but his performance against MTL was really concerning to me.

At some point any serious franchise will need to pay their core guys and with term that will likely age poorly.

This was an opportunity for the Sabres to make a statement to the league that they're serious about contending right NOW and not just launching guys when they get too good and want too much..... and everybody wonders why they have trouble attracting quality free agents.

what an awful take. A wrong side of 30 second line player is not your core when you must pay ten percent of cap to them.

Sabres still have 12 forwards, 6 goalies and 3 goalies under contract even after moving on from Tuch, Byram, Kesselring and Greenway.

We also still have to decide on Stanley, Benson, Krebs and Malenstyn.

Yup. Even with the cap, if he's not a Selke candidate center, this is a poor allocation of funds.

(And I really like Tuch's game!)

8x$10.5M

Good on Jarmo for atleast getting a sign and trade out of it, I don’t think Adams pulls that off

Bad on Jarmo for letting him walk. Good teams sign good players and figure it out later. Loved the Byram trade, but here we are right after breaking a 14 year drought and watching our second best forward and third best defensemen walk.

This fanbase deluded themselves into thinking Tuch wasn’t worth it after one bad Montreal series, so quick to forget he was possibly the best player on the ice in the Boston series (coincidentally right there with Byram).

Risky choice to make and one I disagree with, but the next two weeks will be busy and hopefully Jarmo makes it look like we came out ahead

Did you watch the Montreal series?

Did you watch the 2025/26 season?

Tuch's body of work spans years, not a single playoff series.

So far it's like Christmas where your little sister gets all the fun presents and you get socks.  I'm NOT saying this was a bad move; I'm saying I'm in a bad mood.

Hes 50x better now than he was with Vegas

Terrible comparison and logic

Happy for Alex, if he's happy going to Washington.

Going to withhold judgement on the state of the Sabres to see how Jarmo responds. He now has cap space and a stockpile of draft ammunition to wheel and deal.

I feel that Sabres fans will be happy once all of the dust has settled.
