It’s crazy to me that in a city with houses that rival anywhere in the country everyone lives in tacky suburban houses. I can understand it to an extent, privacy and all, but just once I’d love to hear about someone buying a beautiful home on one of the parkways/neighborhoods adjacent to Delaware Park.

I can see the allure. Old houses can be money pits. At least new construction, assuming the builder didn't skimp or cut corners, you know what you're getting. Our house was built for us 33 years ago and stuff needs replacing as you'd expect, but nothing is a surprise.

I did see an interview recently where Tuch said that the Sabres did come up near the end and push to keep him, but Washington just offered more so he took the money. He did say a bad thing about the Sabres and he did say it will be a shock to not play in-front of the Sabre fans

 

At the end of the day we knew this, but its good to hear it from him

 

I have no ill-will towards Tuch himself, I totally understand where he was coming from

 

I just need the Sabres to be better then Wash. And I think they will be, but I need need need this to happen lol

True, but houses pre 2000s were built from timbers of the old growth variety which tend to be heartiest in terms of structural integrity 

 

so long as things were decently kept up, give me an older home any day of the week 

my cape cod was built in the 1920s and it's a solid bastard, for sure 

plus. I LOVE the Rochester gumwood trim, as it is gorgeous

I listened to an interview with the Caps HC after the trade and he and the organization seemed like a top shelf place to be.  Family like and very player friendly.  This could have meant more than the money to Tuch.

Players speak very highly of Leonis and Carbery seems like a great guy. A good friend of mine is from Turks and his family has a bar there. Carbery was there on vacation and became close friends with them and now invites them to games regularly when they are back in the states.

I'm sure the family environment was a factor to sign with Washington. But the main consideration was the contract offering. If he would have gotten the same offer from Buffalo, I'm sure he would have stayed. Washington and Buffalo were in different salary structure situations. Jarmo had to consider that there are a number of young ascending players who in the not-too-distant future will require richer contracts. In my view, Tuch did the right thing for himself and his family. Also, Jarmo made the right decision in not matching the kind of deal that the player got in Washington. It's simply a hockey business deal that all franchises have to contend with. Jarmo has made some hard decisions with both Tuch and Byram. For me, they were both the right decisions.

What’s hard to tell is how much Tuch and Tage were anchored by Krebs.  And Tage with his injuries 

And it's not like Power was just great during the playoffs. He was strong down the stretch of the season. I hope we don't find out this coming season that he's a guy that takes a while to get going each year, but I believe strongly in him.
