dudacek Posted June 22 Author Report Posted June 22 Jet fans saying the team is interested in a 2C and a RH defenceman. They aren't looking for all futures. Norris, McLeod, Helenius Östlund and Kulich all loosely fit the description. Mrtka's availability has been well-publicized. Byram is not right-handed and has had mixed results on his off-hand. Hellebuyck makes $8.5M, so you'd think there would have to be cap going back. The Jets also don't have a goalie fallback, so you'd think there would be interest in one of ours. 3 1 Quote
Eleven Posted June 22 Report Posted June 22 Get. This. Done. @dudacek the cap going back can be UPL. 2 5 1 Quote

Taro T Posted June 22 Report Posted June 22 A trade for Hellebucyk or a UFA signing of Bobrovsky and this becomes a VERY interesting off-season. 3 3 Quote
ponokasabre Posted June 22 Report Posted June 22 Ya they need a starter so UPL is almost 1000 percent in any deal Id be shocked if they were willing to take Norris but Mcloed makes a ton of sense! UPL + Mcloed + Mrtka or our first would be a pretty good deal for them and us. We actually would save cap in a move like that 2 Quote
msw2112 Posted June 22 Report Posted June 22 This is a tough one for me. The goaltending was very good during the regular season and Hellebuyck would cost a lot to acquire and eat up a lot of cap. That said, in the Montreal series, the Sabres likely would have won the series, possibly handily, with better goaltending. But if they had Hellebuyck, what would they not have had as far as skaters that made a difference in the series? Ironically, I see that Winnipeg is seeking, among other things, a RHD. We used to have one those that could have been valuable as part of a deal....Do you think that Norris, UPL, and Kesselring + 27 would have been enough? I don't know if Winnipeg has the cap for all of that. Norris and Hellebuyck's numbers would cancel each other out. Plus, none of those are premium assets, BUT that would include a 2C, RHD, goalie, and valuable 1st round pick. I guess we'll never know, as Kess is gone. Quote
darksabre Posted June 22 Report Posted June 22 I still don't understand why Winnipeg would want to move Hellebuyck. I'd be happy to take him, but I don't get it. 2 Quote

I think it's pretty safe to say that any talks about Hellebuyck were underway long before Jarmo pulled the trigger on the Kess deal. 2 Quote
ponokasabre Posted June 22 Report Posted June 22 I am gonna float this.....what if Winnipeg was willing to accept this deal: Hellebuyck For UPL and Helenius Thats it, no extra picks, no other prospects, if it was just UPL and Helenius would you do it? Man I am really torn.... 1 2 9 3 Quote

There are Dead Sea Scrolls that are younger than Bobrovsky. 2 minutes ago, darksabre said: I still don't understand why Winnipeg would want to move Hellebuyck. I think this is being generated by Hellebuyck, not the Jets. https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article/its-hard-jets-hellebuyck-gives-blunt-assessment-on-state-of-team/ Quote

Doohickie Posted June 22 Report Posted June 22 Helly would involve the opportunity ship cap out. Quote

Taro T Posted June 22 Report Posted June 22 1 minute ago, ... said: One or the other is a real possibility. Obviously, Hellebucyk would be the 1st choice, and realize that Bobrovsky's stats weren't good last year but the team was a disaster due to injuries and he's bounced back from that sort of a season in the past. For the right contract, wouldn't mind seeing him in B&G. Quote

oddoublee Posted June 22 Report Posted June 22 Based on his cap number combined with our cap situation combined with what we would need to send Winnipeg...not sure this interests me. I'd be inclined to stick with our current goalies and keep/enhance our strong top 9 and top 4 and see where we go. Last year was a hell of a ride, no? Quote

I think Brady is overrated, and he has way less term on his contract, so I think that was a good trade for Ottawa if he was going to walk in FA anyway. Hellebuyck on the other hand, is not overrated. And he still has plenty of term. Winnipeg should still be trying to win a Cup with him. 1 Quote
