Benson only had 7 more.

Bruins see Minten as a player in the Benson/Doan range. 2C likely. not the same type of player as those 2 but a young top 6 guy with upside. That's how they see him anyway. Critics would say he's a 3C at best so like McLeod.

Personally I think he will be a good 2C. Hard working 2 way player. He is somewhere between McLeod and peak ROR. Where he ends up on that scale remains to be seen, but that's the league now, that's why we have a 4 year window imo. Kulich, Östlund, Helenius are all going to want this money or more.

82 games versus 65.

Not worthy of its own thread, but it is utterly bizarre to me that Logan Stanley doesn’t have a job right now.

Or maybe the stranger thing is that his agent still does.

He'll get a deal.

I’d feel more comfortable with Stanley than the kid we got in the Byram trade.  Im more than a little surprised he’s still unemployed.

I disagree.  I think Crevier is gonna be great.  I won't be surprised to see him paired with Power.

What cap you gonna move out to sign him?

Good question. For Fantilli? I’d move Tage and I wouldn’t think twice about it. And I’m a Tage fan, but younger, balanced game, higher ceiling, not pigeon-holed to a specialist. Ya, i would move On Tage for him.

Fantilli’s contract is projected to have a $13-14 million AAV.

It seems the Sabres are building around the Dahlin window. Dahlin has 6 years left on his deal at $11 million per. At some point the Sabres will need to pay a player more than Dahlin, or will have the cap space to go get someone who makes more. I think, though, that it would throw things out of balance to do so now by trading for and giving a big contract to such a young, and not quite upper-echelon, player.

I think our path to winning is our depth. I would prefer to lock up Kulich, Östlund, Quinn, and, in a year, Helenius, with Minten-like deals.

So you're saying he's more durable right? 🙂

Nope. I don't consider a puck to the face and freak infection a durability issue.

Edmonton Oilers sign Alex Formenton to a one year 875K contract

From the Article he wants to go back east

I think we have a shot, he provides all the things we are lacking up front, some physical play. Not sure if he takes draws anymore, I think he is a clear winger

We dont have a spot for him, so we would need to move out somebody for this to happen (hello Helley trade) as thats the only way this makes sense

And Krieder is now on waivers for the purpose of contract termination.

I’ve been meaning to ask someone, maybe a question for @Taro T, but this contract termination thing seems to have become easier and more veterans are using it to get out of contracts. I wonder if the criteria changed.

I think if we landed Helleybuck he might consider Buffalo but otherwise I doubt we are on his list. Boston fans want him. Don't know if he wants them. I would find it really funny if he signed with the Flyers who could use a center.

Haven't seen any changes to it.  AFAIK, still 2 ordinary course buy-out periods (at end of season and after arbitration awards are finalized).  Haven't seen any new wrinkles added to what was already there to get out of contracts outside of the ordinary course buy-out periods.

Maybe he enjoyed playing with Zelly.

for some reason I though Stanley was still on the Sabres' roster?
