Sabres-wise, the entire Sabres NHL blue line except for Power only costs $21.4M (Dahlin, Samuelsson, Zellweger, Timmins, Crevier).

I still think Byram should've simply waited 2 months. Next up: Quinn Hughes.

Byram might not be half as good as Makar and he makes more than half. I think that’s fine 

He doesn’t know half of the old Avs half as well as he should like, and he plays like more than half of Makar half as well as his team deserves

They’ve been trying to sign him to a new deal for next year and talks have gone horribly? That would be my guess.

Mehta trying to get Devils back on track, and it is a good deal for them. I think they also might be the team closest to get Hellebuyck. 

What Nashville was doing is hard to figure, they might start tanking. My feeling is that several teams start to tank during this season and next, and Maddox Schultz in 2028 draft will be special, a Celebrini.

This definitely puts them 1st for Helle. They have 15 NHL forwards. Chevy must love what he’s seeing about now. I think Jarmo was correct in holding the line on a deal.

Maybe I misheard but didn't Thomas say he wanted to be traded? Or something to effect of he didnt think it was going to work long term with the Blues? Now he's the captain? That's a weird turn of events

I’d feel more comfortable with Stanley than the kid we got in the Byram trade.  Im more than a little surprised he’s still unemployed.

That’s literally 3 times the AAV we gave Zellweger, who doesn’t have the upside, but right now is a comparable player.

Its only $2M less than Dahlin.

And the thing is, if Buium develops even into a Byram level player, it will be a bargain in its back half.

Just like Power’s.

This seems really premature for this much this soon so it's a big gamble imo. He might earn it but the league seems to be going a little crazy since the Carlsson offer sheet. Sabres have some real bargains now comparatively speaking.

I suspect he's this year's asked too much early on and then fell through the cracks guy. He will end up somewhere.

This is an example of a contract that I think fully supports the Sabres giving any or all of Quinn, Östlund, and Kulich, variations of the Doan/Benson deals, right now. There is risk to be sure. Injuries and health might be a problem. But based on what Quinn did last year and on what we project Kulich and Östlund to be, and I am meaning even fairly modest projections, $6.5 - $7.5 is not likely to be a substantial overpay. And if they hit larger, it would be a steal. And, it fits under the cap easily.

Benson only had 7 more. 

Bruins see Minten as a player in the Benson/Doan range. 2C likely. not the same type of player as those 2 but a young top 6 guy with upside. That's how they see him anyway. Critics would say he's a 3C at best so like McLeod. 

Personally I think he will be a good 2C. Hard working 2 way player. He is somewhere between McLeod and peak ROR. Where he ends up on that scale remains to be seen, but that's the league now, that's why we have a 4 year window imo. Kulich, Östlund, Helenius are all going to want this money or more.

they appear to project him as a 2C.

i have no idea whether that's what he's apt to be. but he's a centre. he's young. and plays a hard 2-way game.

that's what the internet says, anyway.

if he's a middle-6 centre who can provide ~50 points and play a 200-foot game, that seems like a fairly market rate deal.
