Spent much of my formative youth up at the beach and quarry. Great place to scuba dive and explore the old mining wrecks like the train and tracks. It sucks that it was privatized imo.

I’d rather stick a sharp object in my eye than sleep outdoors. I bought a house for a reason. My brother camps with some sort of frequency, the only reason is to get black out drunk as somehow his wife seems it acceptable under those conditions. I prefer to get black out drunk in the comfy confines of my home.  😎

A big knock, from my experience, is they never stop letting people in, even if there isn't any room for you. And no refunds.

My kids go with their friends, but I've never been. That said, as far as I know Sherkston is all fancy park model trailers these days, and it's expensive. There's no sleeping under the stars. It's all the amenities of home, except with a beach and crowds.

I would argue it’s Quinte’s Isle across the pond from Buffalo at the edge of the Peninsula but then again I am a little biased.

Just a little over 2 hours from the GTA and nobody knows about this gem. About an hour and a half of paddling... No reservations required.

I am one hundred percent with you here but as someone else pointed out, Sherkston rents out these trailers. We did a family vacation there when my oldest kids were younger. It was a pretty good time. About thirty years ago but I remember it fondly.

I know Tofino gets super hyped for its beaches, but I can't get past the fact that you can't swim in them without wearing a wet suit. Also, with a normal summer daytime high air temperature of under 20C (68F), you wouldn't really want to swim anyways.

Admittedly, I've never been and everyone says how the geography is stunning, but for me, taking a swim in a cool (low 70s) lake on a hot day is the very best part about camping... Especially if there's some nice rock cliffs to jump off (see below).

Cracking a cold one (or six), catching some fish, maybe a hike, and cooking over a campfire seals the deal!
