RETURNTOGLORY Posted May 28 Report Posted May 28 Wow. A bit gutted here. Enjoyed watching him over the years. He was extremely antagonistic and a bit dirty. I love that type of player. Rest in Peace ❤️ 2 Quote

Hawerchuk Posted May 28 Report Posted May 28 Rob Ray and Claude "Turtle" Lemieux had some heavyweight bouts back in the day! Hated him as a player but he was very effective to say the least. Wonder what the cause was? Too soon, RIP. 2 Quote
tom webster Posted May 28 Report Posted May 28 Wasn’t he just the torch bearer at game three? I thought he looked good. 1 3 Quote

It’s a failing of human nature that I am routinely guilty of being entertained by the most inhumane parts of hockey. 1 Quote

msw2112 Posted May 28 Report Posted May 28 (edited) I hated Lemieux as a player too, but can't deny his effectiveness as a playoff performer. The Sabres drafted his son Brendan, but he never played for the team and never played a full NHL season (maxed out at 59 games for the Rangers in 2019-20 with a career high 18 points and a -14). Given my own age, it stings to see guys as young as Claude passing away, especially, as others have pointed out, he looked very good and healthy just a couple of weeks ago. UPDATE: Just saw that the died by suicide. Raises CTE questions, given the way he played the game. It's still sad and tragic, but does explain why he passed after recently appearing to be very healthy for his age. The guy won 4 Cups with 3 different teams. Not many in league history can make that claim. Edited May 28 by msw2112 Quote
Big Guava Posted May 29 Report Posted May 29 Man that's rough...especially after he was just at the Habs game carrying the torch in game 3. Quote
SABRES 0311 Posted May 29 Report Posted May 29 I don’t know what drove him to do this but it sucks. Quote
