I just hope they never go the bouncyball route and put a “los” in front of the team names. Because, you know, that makes it Spanish.🙄 

They should have put an O at the end to really hammer home that point.

The logo sucks. The black jerseys are solid but the logo has always been terrible

I think the issue was that they almost looked incomplete like a practice jersey. Plus the all white was washed out on ice.

They needed to add grey and make the shoulders blue. It wasn't hard and they botched it. Take the OG white goat head and sub red/black for blue/yellow.

Anyways, don't love this "hometown" theme. I wish they'd find a new "thing" rather than just going "blue goat head".

Buffalo flag is a cool idea.

Eh, people have been looking for the bottlecap for 20 years too. They got as close as they could to it with those script text 3rds a while back (which were pretty nice).

When the league starts dictating one offs, that's where creativity goes to die.  They're not going to sink much effort into that.  I'd be curious to see how many planned one off jerseys wound up sticking around in some form.

Absolutely, its too plain. I saw someone reference it as a project crammed in the night before a deadline.

Its also missing the shoulders from the original white goatheads, that alone would balance it out. This version was truly a reverse of the monochrome black version and its wanting.

While 100% agree the all-white pants and helmets were mistakes and can see why some wanted color in the shoulders, as you say, they stayed fairly true to their concept.  There were a "reverse" of the original black goathead done up in current Sabres colors.  So, the black turned white and those black unis had no lighter shoulder piping and the pants were plain black.  And then the blue gold took the places of other colors.  But to stay fully true to the originals and the "reverse retro" theme, there should've been gray or silver in the piping of the sweater (like there was in the crest on the front).

They were not supposed to be an alternative color scheme of the original white goatheads.

Personally, thought the shirts were sweet.

And they used the same concepts with the updated reverse retro butterknife unis.  The big difference there is when they originally wore the butter knives, the helmets and pants stayed black.  They hadn't gone Carolina ALL red from top to bottom.  And that's IMHO why the butterknife rr's worked better than the rr goatheads.

We’re in a very existing-IP-driven environment right now. Truly new ideas are dangerous because they might not sell. (Says the person who quotes things coming up on 50 years old.)

If they wanted to do a hometown it should’ve had something to do with the town. Or just go goofy for a season: wing with some blue cheese and hot sauce in the style of the buffaslug.

Expecting @Brawndo's guess that the City of Buffalo seal ends up somewhere in the design actually happens.  Perhaps just the lightning bolts around a normal Sabres (or, less likely, a Goathead) Sabres logo.  At minimum that'd be the shoulder patch, but could see it be the main logo.  They'be been using the Sabres logo surrounded by lightning bolts on flags for at least a couple of years, maybe longer.
