CTJoe Posted May 17 Report Posted May 17 Zach Metsa in the lineup. 32-7-5. This is not a small sample size either and he's shown it elsewhere - Qunnipiac, etc. Sometimes the best thing is not to overthinks things. His nerves showed early on (he hasn't played for the Sabres for quite a while), but once he settled down he once again settled everything down - easy exits, no mistakes 3 Quote
Night Train Posted May 17 Report Posted May 17 He is small but he does make some nice rushes and passes. Isn't slow like so many of our D. I get he's 27 but he may be D-Man #6. I personally think Ruff likes him more than folks think. Mentions him a lot. Intentional by design ? Quote

Lindy always appreciated an undersized, underskilled, hard working underdog. He’s not a 6. He’s a 7 at best that happens to match up better than a couple of behemoths against a speed heavy opponent. His minutes have been well protected all season. I think the biggest reason the Sabres have such a sterling record with Metsa in the lineup is because Dahlin, Mule, Byram and Power play more minutes when Metsa is dressed. 1 4 Quote

All true, plus Metsa does make many mistakes. He is a heady player. Quote
