So lucky, they need Stenberg more than McKenna though.   Feel bad for the Canucks.

Canucks are terrible and have never won the lottery.

They also need forwards and the best guys at 3 are probably D

Approximately 0% chance it’s Not rigged

Toronto's owners include the very media group that works out TV and advertising deals with the NHL for Canada

Toronto is their biggest cash cow

Toronto looks bad now and possibly in trouble due to Matthews wanting to depart

Toronto has no 1sts 2/3 years coming up

How do you fix that?

Give them 1st Overall, then Matthews might be more inclined to stick around, Rodgers is happier with the NHL brass, and millions in jersey sales occur. People stop ridiculing the MLSE hiring of Chayka and the Toronto media is in a blissful stupor until Fall.

It's just too on the nose not to be. Toronto misses the playoffs for the first time in 8 or so years and loses a star in Marner. Magically win lottery from 5th place.

McDavid felt rigged to us since we were the loser but logically it didn't make sense for the league to send their best player to Edmonton.

Sidney Crosby was likely fixed because it saved Pittsburgh's franchise; they likely move by 2010 otherwise.

This feels like the Patrick Ewing story, there's just far too many threads that connect. Effectively Occam's Razor actually leans to it being fixed because the NHL benefits far too much for it to be pure chance.

If you want to tell on yourself by claiming it’s “rigged” have at it.

Literally zero understanding of Occam’s razor, even just for starters

I’m sorry: if anyone *legitimately* believes it’s rigged, you need to go back and complete high school - it’s an embarrassingly bad opinion

the moon landing was faked-ass opinion

Occam's razor is a problem-solving and philosophical principle advising that when presented with competing explanations for the same phenomenon, the simplest one—requiring the fewest assumptions—is usually the best to start with.

Am I to assume the NHL would rather give the pick to pure chance or to make more money by rigging it?

Lmao that’s not how it works

the leafs had an *8.5% chance* to win. Why are we pretending that’s some sort of astronomical number? The cookie crumbling that way is a universal chasm of liklihood away from “ok we are going to risk our entire sport and rig the lottery”

You are claiming rigged and “conspiracy” because a 1/10 chance unfolded. That sort of take requires a special level of nonsense

Also, this is a good video about the Ewing story

The NBA got away with it, why couldn't the NHL? Toronto getting #1 makes the league and its owners wealthier.

And you can't tell me this wasn't their golden goose scenario.

Sundin will want Stenberg and Chayka will want McKenna and this is where the Leafs bickering will begin again!

So you are thinking 1 unproven conspiracy out of the multitude of lotteries to have taken place supports your argument mathematically, and not mine? Bold strategy

honestly you know what f*ck it, it was rigged. Whatever honestly at this point, it’s no more absurd than the multitude of other narratives that have become fact around here

That is literal how Occams Razor works.

It's not rigged but the explanation of O.R. was spot on.

No, I’m saying it was applied incorrectly

That was pretty clear? His implementation of occam’S razor had him land at “rigged”. Ie that’s not how it works. He demonstrably applied it incorrectly

Post not poster. Again: please

Elections are rigged too.
