If he's available Wednesday, but still not above, say 95%, then keep him out until it becomes absolutely necessary to put him in. Try and give Carrick as much time as possible. He will be vital once in.

Agreed. If waiting two games means we get beat 100% for the duration then you do that. So much better than 85% with an injury risk.

If / when Carrick is good to slot into the line-up, who does he replace? Kozak or Greenway?

I could see him replacing Kozak as the center, but I also think Kozak has more jam/ability to hound the puck than Greenway. This series is going to be about speed and since his surgeries Greenway has always looked a step behind.

I know Greenway is good on the PK but Carrick can fill in there.

Expect it'd be Kozak coming out for Carrick.  Personally would prefer it to be Greenway but expect Ruff will play the vet he considers a leader over the rookie 4th liner.

But want it to be Greenway because Kozak is faster, he can take draws if Carrick isn't fully ready to do so, he can also kill penalties though not as well as Greenway, and Greenway seems to play 2 strong games and then less well presumably because the groin issues still flare up upon significant exertion.  So, let Greenway get extra rest so that when he goes back in we get "good" Greenway rather than 80% Greenway.  (Again, doubt Lindy agrees.)

The arena will go wild if he plays game 1.  I don’t remember a player who endeared himself to the Sabres fan base quicker than Carrick.

He's already become my favorite Sabre OF ALL TIME.

Sounds like he is ready to go for sure. No reason at all to wait for game 2 or 3. He's been skating, conditioning, and it wasn't a rib or shoulder. If it was the elbow, I'd be surprised if it slowed him down at all.

Elbow MIGHT mess with his faceoff prowess, but that's not all he brings to the table.

This is what we could get with Carrick in the lineup against Montreal.

🤔... something tells me he's not going to be dropping the gloves anytime soon if he comes back for the playoffs.

But if the elbow bends the opposite direction now, it might actually help.

If Carrick is playing this Friday, the arena is going to explode.

Why change the lineup? Give him more time if he needs it and run it back.
