Sorry, didn’t see an NHL R2 thread. Feel free to merge.

While everyone seems to think the Canes will run roughshod over the Flyers (and I think that myself), I looked at the regular season series and ALL FOUR games went to OT or a SO. Take it FWIW, and perhaps it’s worth nothing. I just found it interesting and surprising.

It feels like the Canes-Flyers series is already over, but as we all know, there are ebbs and flows. The ice can be tilted at the drop of a hat.

But damn, Carolina looks tough.

Philly’s one shot on goal was a botched pass on a zone clear.

Yikes. I expect this series to be over in five at most but let’s see what the Flyers have in the second. If it doesn’t look massively better I think we can basically call this one.

WTH was that call? That wasn't slashing?

It was super light but technically slashing.

Shouldn’t have been called but that’s what happens when you do dumb ***** like barely make a slashing motion. Ref called it from the other side of the ice because it probably looked worse from afar.

Wow, Sabres get an extra day of rest...most thought it would start Tuesday...hopefully that helps a little for the Östlund and Carrick timelines.

There's a real risk here of the Sabres screwing up the next round because of the first. The next round will be a very different game from the Bruins game and the Sabres better be on that and already practicing and adapting. Their own D is going to face forecheck pressure similar to what they've done so far.

Bruins were an ideal opponent to get used to the playoffs and the possible physicality. But both of the next two will be much much faster teams and thus the Sabres will not have the speed edge they had in round one. They will need to bring more physicality and structured solid D.
